Moon Town - Animated film in progress

#9

I love the design. Very orginal! Looking forward to see more from you!

#10

doffer - I’m glad you got to at least join us on AnimWatch for a bit there. Sorry to have shut it down, but I’m happy to be able to put my time into this project, so it’s a balance. I do hope you enjoy it as it goes forward.

torresmedia - Thanks for the note. I hope I can put up enough interesting stuff to keep your attention!

#11

I rendered out a front and back view of the untextured Security Cruiser model for those who might be interested.

I’m anxious to get 'er painted up.

#12

Awesome…particularly love the detail in-between the small side engine(s) and the body, and the engine(s) themselves too, the design work is great on the whole of this.

#13

Hey, all

I finished the textures on the Security Cruiser. See below (and click to enlarge).

And of course, if you want a really good look, HERE is a 360 degree spin movie of the ship.

Enjoy!

#14

Next, I’m onto characters. Here’s the design for Cassandra Quinn…

#15

Fun design, but I think in 3d that neck would look really odd.

#16

Hmm, right well, firstly I think it’s a great bit of drawing and design work…I’m loving the thin neck, and the design work on the suit is terrific…but I’m just wanting her to be a bit more feminine?..the head is a bit androgynous. I reckon that might be sorted by making her eyes a bit bigger maybe. Eyes and lips bigger would do it I think.

PS

I really hate crit sessions.

#17

Nice work!

I’m sorry if I missed this earlier, but is this a personal project that you’re working on yourself or perhaps with some friends, or is this something you’re actually doing as part of a company’s vision?
Are you animating anything or just modeling the spaceships?

Anyways, the spaceship designs are fantastic! I think the characters will look really nice too!

#18

Aesir - Yup. I’ll keep an eye on her neck. Easy to fix if it looks odd when I build her out.

Michael - I think I need one more pass on her face.

Zephyr - Thanks for the note. It’s a project I’m doing on my own. I’ll be building, texturing, animating everything. I’m also writing, producing and developing it.

A couple more tidbits… after a lot of drawing and designing, this is the version I’ve settled on:

And one for size comparison…

#20

I really think I liked the old character design better, it was more interesting fit better with the style of the ships. The new designs are ok but they don’t work as well IMHO

#21

Orthographic design sketch in preparation for modeling:

#22

Hey OgLuna
this is looking awesome - I can see why you’ve changed the character shape a bit - the older squashier version has been seen plenty of times but theres a great appeal about it
the vehicle looks ace - love the little legs for landing!
Looking forward to seeing more

#23

this is looking really swish, love the ship design really nice and stylised. cant wait to see more

#24

Thanks, you guys.

Meanwhile, progress of a kind:

#25

It looks great.
Perhaps a little more depth in the skull around the eyes.

What 3d package is your “weapon of choice” for this project?

#26

Hi, Doffer

I’m using 3ds max on Moon Town, though a couple of guys helping me out use XSI and Blender for the modeling. But everything gets imported into max for materials, animation, and rendering (and VRAY for the light…)

Thanks for the note!

#27

I’m making some changes on the model as I move toward texturing

#28

you are doing a great job man. I love the designs and the style. Keep updating.
