Modo layers displaced in lightwave

#1

Hi,

I’ve been modelling a robotic spider in modo for an upcoming short film, i modelled it in various layers to animate it in lightwave using pivot points.

My problem is, when i export the object in lightwave format and open it up, all the layers are all over, take a look at my images…

Modo:

Lightwave:

Any clues as to what i’m doing wrong, or do i have to re-align all the parts in lightwave? :oS

Thanks

Perhaps you’ve used an item transform to position some of your mesh items within modo? When modelling an object, you should position your object’s layers in modo by moving them in component mode (vert, edge, poly). Check the item properties for each layer in modo and if any of them have a position rotation or scale other than 0 then you should freeze position etc from the item properties. This will set the settings back to zero but leave your object where it is.

In modo, transforms done in item mode is like using Lightwave layout to position your object. Using component mode (vert, edge, poly) is like positioning your mesh layers in modeler.

There is a pref in modo to auto freeze item transforms when saving as lwo.
