Modo...heh!(a few quick Q's)

#1

Sorry for asking potential FAQs.

Tried Lightwave less than a year ago since the modeling workflow seemed to fit me well but unfortunately the lack of subdivisable n-gons was really a downer for me,so I bought another, cheaper complete package which I’m very happy with.

Being a modeler,I don’t remain indifferent to this software, quite the opposite,I’m drooling over the selection and customizability.

Anyways,I thought there would be a demo but it wasn’t the case so instead I had to read these boards to inform myself, unfortunately,I’ve become quite busy as of late but so far,I really like what I had the time to read so it’s come down to one or two question before I can make a decision.

1:What’s the highest(free) possible upgrade version I’ll get with Modo 1.0?

2:Is the online purchase download the same full software as the cD/DvD I’m gonna get?

3:How many different computers(all for me to use exclusively) at the time can I install Modo on?

4: Can the ‘Move Elements’ tool pre-select vertice that are the closest for fast-editing or do you have to hover directly on them in order to drag’em?

5: Do Falloffs give me that kind of freedom AFA customizing is concerned?(see #4)

Thanks in advance

It will select the closest object, be it a vertice or edge.

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies but what about #1,from what I gathered,Luxology doesn’t have anything officially announced,is that correct?

#5

Yup, Luxology hasn’t offically announced anything on this.

The next service update has been confermed free though by Mr. Peebler.

Cheers.

#6

hmm,it’s too bad we can’t get a definitive answer for #1(as to the highest) but #3 was my biggest worry, you Luxology guys rock!

#7

I guess I’m not sure I understand your #1 question. Do you mean how many revision numbers will you get for free with modo 101? We certainly will provide free updates to modo as well as free content and training material updates, but I couldn’t tell you a definitive number. That seems a little odd actually. modo 102 is on the way. It is packed with great enhancements and some killer new features and it is free to registered modo 101 users. We are also working on a major revision which would be a paid update. No information about timing or features on that front.

Hi Brad thanks for taking the time to write,it’s appreciated.

Yes,that’s what I meant. That may sound like a cheapskate but I’ve spent alot of money lately and needed just the assurance that I wouldn’t have to pay for an upgrade too soon, basically that answered it.

Thank you

So, we know that those who purchase modo 1.01 now will get the free update to 1.02.

I’ve got modo and I’m very happy with it. I expected the upgrade to 1.02 would just be a few minor bug fixes, but it comes with much more. New tools and features, they could have called it modo 2.0!

What’s really good is that the pace of modo development is just rocketing ahead. I don’t know how Luxology does it, but I suspect their fast pace of development might be a result of the underlying Nexus framework which allows them to develop a cross-platform app much faster than competitors can.

Exciting times!
