Models for my hack and slash RPG

All money made from the game will be split between team members equally. Unfortunately as this is our first money making project we can not offer money until the game makes money

Three things.
-Business loans
-Stock Market Floats
-Benifactors

hi, just wondering if tat thread is still alive or not… anyway couldn’t get to view any of ur files, just wanted to have an idea of what you’ve got so far.

Also, if maybe you updated your website a bit more, it’d tell people more on what you’re aiming for.

Lastly, i know how it hard it is to start a game project (makes me remember my assignments…heheh)
g/luck.

I really want to give you a new video and a demo but as you noticed my old host is down and I don’t have anywhere to host the stuff. If anyone has any ideas where I could host stuff cheaply then please let me know. I know the website is rubbish. I made it literraly a year a go in an IT lesson! Someone is making me a new one as we speak. And yes the project is still very much alive.

Looks interesting, pics are small though. So when can we see it in action?

For hosts, I made a post here awhile ago http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=49778

Hi I saw ur project and kind of interesting in that , if u need any help I’d be glad to help u guys. I also mailed u and sent few of my works to ur address andrewneale2004@yahoo.com
and elbsoftware@yahoo.co.uk but received no reply.

Those screenshots look very familiar, and so does the name, the forum too…I wonder why? I think it looks great. Characters graphics are simple and cartoony, which makes it gives it a nice effect, and does eat the frame rate like my background scene for Ronin. If you are going for a cartoony, personally I would see if Cel shading would look good, it worked on Zelda and that Alien game on TGC forums.

I noticed people were talking about C++ and using it, well there are SDK’s that are supposed to be easy to use, i don’t use C++ but I know of a good SDK for you, has a free water marked version and 2 other packages www.truevision3d.com if the link doesn’t exist, google it:)

#22

moster4ever - yeah i saw an e-mail but i couldn’t open it and couldn’t find what your e-mail address was to let you know.

seppuku05 - thanks i’ll take a look. yeah cel shading does eat the fps and i can’t find a decent cel shader.

#23

Yeah Cel shaders can be annoying to find a good one, I’d use Dark Basic’s Cartoon shader, but I’ve never used it before, so I don’t know the quality, the one that the Alien game on TGC looks like they got a good cel shader, maybe you could ask them:)

About Truevision 3D, I would wait for 6.5 to come out, because thats the new generation version, which looks from the Beta testing, pretty awesome.

#24

Wahey!

I can finally give you this video!
http://elbsoftware.dbspot.com/Demo/intromovie.WMV

Now I have hosting I’ll try and get a demo up very soon.

#25

hey,
nice, i saw the videos and pics and while u said u weren’t much of a modeller, the models looks nice for a cartoony look. From the looks of it, the game looks interesting, so if you’re still looking for people, i’d like to give a hand. i’ll try emailing u on tat.

keep it up.

At last, here is a demo. It is not the latest because I don’t want to release it just yet.

http://elbsoftware.dbspot.com/Demo/CombatDemo.rar

Controls:
W,A,S,D - Move
Mouse - Move camera
Left click - Speed attack
Right click - Fierce attack
Spacekey - Killing move
Controlkey - Spin attack

In this old demo there is no magic or combos but they are planned for the next demo.

You’ve mentioned that you’ve haven’t found anything to get you going into C++ for game development. Some books about C++ that I’ve found to be useful in learning that language is “Beginning C++ Game Programming” ISBN: 1-59200-205-6 and “Game Programming All In One” ISBN: 1-59200-383-4.

The first book is really a dressed up, basic C++ book. It mentions games and how some things are used in it, but this is only a basic level, how to program in C++ book. It only has you making text based games but does teach you things like vectors instead of arrays and things like that.

The second books is for 2D programming in C++. It uses the Allegro game library.

Keep up the good work.

PS: Whenever you do get comfortable with C++, you may consider looking into open source game libraries to help speed you up in the development of games. Also, low level programming like Assembly will be a good thing to learn if you want to tweek the games to run faster.

#28

Thanks, I’ll check those books out. Anyone tried the demo?

#29

ill check it out when i get home

Hello,
I just scanned through this thread and I would be interested in helping out some. I’m a graphic designer and I was about to enter the Softimage Lock’n’Load challenge, but my hard drive died, so I just go it back up after 3 weeks of data recovery.

I was thinking of taking the model I’m working on and building a little one level, 3rd person shooter (a la Ratchet n’ Clank). I like action RPGs instead of turn based, like Zelda and that sort. Since you’re going for a cartoon/fantasy look I think I can help out. I’m on my work comp now (Mac) so your videos and stuff are blocked for me. I couldn’t load your website, only a few image links. Is there an email address I could contact you with? You can PM me if youd rather not post it here.

#31

good job so far, keep at it, perhaps I will help out one day

#32

Thanks both of you. My e-mail address is andrewneale2004@yahoo.com. I’ll probably have a new combat demo up on Saturday.

#33

This still going?
