modeller & displacement creation for $2...Hexagon 2

#1

Daz are offering Hexagon 2 for £1.99 for registered members including all future 2.x updates. Registration costs approx. $30 per month & you can quit after a month if you wish without penalty.

Messiah:Studio & Hexagon…is there no longer any need for ZBrush?

So for about £17 you can sign up to DAZ’s Platinum program, and buy Hexagon 2 for £1 ? That’s insane, but nice :bounce: There has to be a catch somewhere ( apart from not getting the updates when you cancel the Platinum membership ? )

Surely DAZ must catch onto this.

It must expire after 30 days. I paid my $30 + $2 to try their service.

No catch. Its worth it too. A nice and flexible app.

Wow, what a deal. I’ve been looking at this modeler as my student license for modo ran out. Anyone try painting high detail displacements and export to another app yet? love to see some results.

#6

Nichod, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d love to know what the 3d painting features are like. I hate making textures in Photoshop / Gimp ( that’s why I prefer procedurals ) but I could handle painting directly on the mesh instead.

I believe that DAZ are only supporting Hex upto 2.1 as part of their deal with Eovia. Hex is apparently developed by Eovia Europe, which was not part of the buyout. Also, access to updates is NOT linked to membership of the Platinum Club.

#8

Daz will continue to support Hex post 2.1 as well. Members of the Carrara team also aided in development of Hex and will continue it post 2.1.

#9

Wow they weren’t kidding. I bought a copy. Deformation painting is SO COOL. Props to Eovia for doing this.

Thanks Nichod for the heads up. Had a change of soul this year and dropped all the warez ware. I picked up only software I could truly afford. Hex is certainly a nice app. Coupled with Silo, and PMG Studio Workstation, I now have, pretty much a serious tool set… - G

yeah thanks Nichod:rolleyes: :stuck_out_tongue:

I think that I’ll be sticking to Lightwave & ZBrush as they cover everything that Hexagon has & more but it’s definitely a good deal & if it wasn’t for ZBrush I’d jump at it.
