Hello!
So I started my first hard surface modeling project on Maya. My goal here is to create complex and believable model of computer. I got very excited about this project, so I thought I should probably finish all the texturing, lighting and rendering properly.
A lot of inspiration to this computer comes from my own built computer, but I really want to basically create everything out of my own mind and ideas, so none of the component models are even near copies of existing real world computer components. This way I’m trying to achieve the feeling of uniqueness in final render, and no one is saying ‘‘Hey that’s my computer!’’
I really don’t have much experience of texturing and rendering, so I would very much like to know how to work with materials to create that real look, and how much effort should I put into the details of the textures. Modeling is quite familiar to me, so there have not yet been any problems in creating any components. My biggest concerns are how to create realistic led type of lighting (this final computer is ofc. going to have all the epic lighting and water cooling solutions) to light the computer from inside for the final render. And I have not yet figured out how I’m going to render the final image so that the fan blades seem like they spin super fast. Do I need to animate the fan blades to spin super fast and render an image from the middle of the animation?
A lot of things to sort out and think about, but I’m pretty excited and certain that I will keep my motivation on this project until it is finished with time and effort. Thanks for viewing!

Transparent tubing and waterblocks are easy, but do I need to make some water simulation inside those tubes to make it really look like there is water running through them? Guess I have some research to do.
