Hey Folks,
I’m looking to take MOCAP data in FBX format into Motion Builder and then drop keyframes to give it a stop motion look. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

Hi Severian,
I’ve never done anything like this before, but it seems logical to use the resample filter to remove every n’th frame from your data.
I’ve attached two sample files for you. What I did was to take a normal mocap track applied to a generic skeleton and select all frames (through the FCurves editor) on all bones. Then I applied a ‘resample’ filter to them, which changed the frame density from 30fps to 5fps (Asset Browser > Filters).
Back in FCurves, change the interpolation to something that fits your vision. I left it at ‘constant’, but you can do whatever you want here. Keep in mind though that if you go back to Bezier it will still produce smooth animation, it will just be less accurate than what you had to begin with.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Daniel
EDIT: Forgot to upload the files. All done now.
