Missy's Mech WIP

#1

I’m taking the on-demand Mastering Zbrush course with Paul Gaboury and we’re working on a mech! So I figured for some more feedback I’d make a 3d sketchbook thread of everything I do for the class. I’m hoping I can improve my digital sculpting skills

For my first post, the goal was to block out a mech / hard-surface model in basic shapes, to just only focus on the form and not the detail. I have little experience in hard-surface so this was a fun challenge for me. I am doing a study of Big Fau from the show The Big O: http://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/3117/Big+Fau.html

its a good block out.
I would change the feet so it resembles the concept more. It doesn’t mean to make it hi res but capturing that silloutte will help you understand what’s happening in relation to other parts of the character.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure how to approach the feet since I was worried about it being too detailed, but you bringing up the silhouette aspect I see why it’s better to add in that detail. I learned some new tools and will be revisiting a lot of this so I’ll be able to update this week / weekend

Got busy but have updates for the mech! The legs are more fleshed out and I added in more for the head. I’m going to revisit the arms and pelvis next.
