How do you create the mirror of an object (like half of a human body) and have it update as you alter the original? And can you do it so that you have a smoothed one that updates as you alter the unsmoothed original?
Mirroring Objects
Select the face to reference the mirror.
tools>virtual mirror> create
there ya go…
to remove vm, select break
to make mirror one object, select freeze
Thanks a lot JDex. There are a couple more things I’d like to know. One - How do you make an object so that you can’t select it/see it? And Two - In a Bay Raitt vid I saw he was using Mirai and at times he’d move around an area like with soft selection in Gmax or 3ds max. Is there any soft selection in Wings?
To make an object not visible or selectable, select>hide
To lock all objects but the one you’ve selected, select>lock unselected
To show all or unlock all, continue looking in the select menu.
You can also use the Geometry Graph (Window>Geometry Graph) to lock and hide objects easily.
Soft selection is not really an implemented feature, but you can achieve the same basic thing using magnets… I have yet to really delve into magnets, so I can’t help you further than recommending a search here in the forums and a visit to puzzled paul’s aardvarks tutorial site… again there are many links here in the wings forum.
I do really recommend you print out and read a copy of the WIP manual which can be found in the stickies… it will really help you with getting started.
Hehe another person interested in Wings thanks to Bay’s Mirai video
Really, there’s only one thing that I miss from nendo it’s the Circularize selected segments when scaling them.Bay uses it when he prepares the shoulders for the arm’s extrusion and you can see how much time is saved only when you’re obligated to tweak them manually…That said,I’m not complaining Nor asking for that function,I’m sure it’s already been thought of anyways and if it has to be implemented, only a few persons know for sure.
<< miss from nendo it’s the Circularize … >>
Could you tell me where this is in Ndo - I couldn’t see it - thx.
As regards circularise / spherize - in Wings - have you tried Vert | Deform -> Inflate -> 100% (both R and LMB options)
If yes, and not what you’re after - how does it differ / fall short?
