Mini comp #2 gate to a tomb

#1

I use 3ds max (6)
i have about 40 tris to go but i will use them to make the rest of the shadows. I am a little worried about making the texture with only 128X128. I may have to add more segments to the back plane in order to get better tiles.

Wow, that is a big gate! I love the little skeleton, but maybe you can repaint the shading on the bones when you get the lighting set,I am sure the constraints are going to be a challenge for your ambition, but that is a compliment. good luck!

#3

the skeleton is a very nice touch

btw, how did you get the alpha to work in the viewport?

#4

!

that’s a very good point! how did you get the alpha to work in the viewports? id love to know as well

btw great concept - look forward to seeing it finished

#5

to display the alpha in the viewport (If your using max!) open material editor and hit the show in map viewport. I think that you have to have the sub materials not showing (i dont remember and tend to just hit the button untill i get what I want!) one more thing you may have to have to use direct X in your view port and transparency has to be set to simple or best (right click on perspective, transparency)

I hope that helps

#6

thanks
I had it exactly like that but then I clicked all the buttons again and it worked

#7

I changed it up a little bit. ( i still have about 50 tris to play with)

#8

looking really nice there  remind me of a door way that Indiana may venture into. I really like the skeleton, i was going to add one for my challenge, but i don’t think it will look as polished as yours.

#9

I have completed the textures. I hope to learn vertex lighting in the near future (right now i have 2 omni lights + the shadows witch are geomatry with an Opp) It is 596 tris.

hey!!

looks really cool man!!
how about using the left over poly’s to try and make some fog on the ground?
just a suggestion but i think that would look cool.

cheers!!
