Hi. Yes I would be able to convert anyone’s Maya files for them. You could send me the .ma or .mb file and I could convert it to .3ds for you. Or you could export to .obj if you want, as long as you delete the history of the object and triangulate it, and make everything into one object. Just send the file to synthesizer@simonbarsky.com

Hi all, There`s a little update of the 3-LF-6
The upper “ballconary” to do yet, many new detailes proyected and optimization of the mesh (now over 15K polys rendered now)

Well actually we can use some more people to do modelling, since so many people who joined never showed up anymore. So you can join if you want.
The guy who is going to do the textures might as well do mattepaintings for the background yes.

There are so many to choose from, i have no idea at all. 
Ok, I’ve decided to pick this project up again. I’ve been quite idle in the past months, but after seeing the EE and having had some conversation with ‘the’ Alan Lee I’m very motivated to go to work again.
Flavien (Ysaneya) and I decided that somewhere in january would be a good time to release a new version of the viewer. I will be working hard to make it become another great update and I actually expect you guys to do the same 
Like I said, Alan Lee helped me greatly by giving me some great reference pictures, including one of the Hallows, the part with the tombs behind the city, that are not visible anywhere, not even on the EE. This is also the reason why I can’t put it online to show you all.
I’ve drawn up a map of that area (first attachment) and I hope to get the modelling of that part done for at least half of the buildings by january. That won’t be too hard, because the buildings are all very symmetrical, so that saves quite some time.
In the past month I did actually model only one thing: the part near the sixth gate and the Houses of Healing (with help of Alan again). I’ve attached a screenshot of that area, now fully modelled.
And today I’ve been doing quite a lot of work on Pippins chambers. The exterior wasn’t featured in the miniature, so that leaves a lot of room for me to do what I like with it.
Dodo3D actually started the building, and now I’m trying to finish it so that it can get a nice spot in the city.
In the coming month I’ll be working on pretty much everything, I’ll try to correct errors in the models as much as I can and I’ll also try to make as much new models as possible 
And I’ll try to work closely with Daniel Schmid, the texture artist, and try to get a good start on the texture pack.

Wow, this project is amazing. THis will turn out incredible, bet you all are waiting for the EE, thats tomorrow i think right? Anyways I think I would love to help on this project but I don’t think I’m talented enough for a lot of the buildings, If you have some simple modelling that needs done, I might be your man, hit me up with a PM or somthing. Very cool, can’t wait to see how it turns out.

First of all, I want to say that your project is great and it is going on very well.
I have modelled the tower of Orthanc in the past, for Neverwinter Nights game. You can see it in my web site, NWN section. Now I would like to make a part of Minas Tirith too, but since you are doing a work greater than I could be able to, I ask you if, when all it’s done, you can make a low poly version for Neverwinter Nights. I know a lot of people that will like it. Lot of persistent world for NWN are making the middle earth…
I don’t think you realize how much work it’d be to remake a low poly version of the city. You’re talking about people who have been working since months, having to remake everything from scratch, or pretty much… that’s thousands of man hours work.
hi Aragorn26282, it´s really dificulto to make a low poly version of our buildings, not really for reducing the mesh (any aplplication coud do it more or less ok) the really problem is the management of textures, and the all “auxiliary” thinks of a game mod proyect, like the texture (each engine have their limitations), shadow map, groups, objetcs, collision mesh… etc etc.
That might be considered anodher diferent proyect than ours, sorry.
Ok great, it’ll be alright then, as long as I get the model somewhere between now and the third week of january.
I assume that you’ll like to do another building?
