Microscopic Egg Cell Tutorial

#1

Hey Guys

I’m sure many of you will have found this tutorial before, on 3D World Magazine’s website, just wondering if anybody else out there has completed this, and what your final image looked like?

Here is a link to the tutorial, I found it very easy to follow, and took me around 2 hours to work I think…

Here is my final render from Max 6 using mental ray, without any post editing at all:

I may well do some post on it soon, if anyone has any advices they would be warmly appreciated…

Hahaha very nice! I saw that tutorial a while back, and it all went well until I had to render it. I gave it… 3 days [maybe not longer enough] and it was not even close to rendering. Yet more reason to buy a new computer [did I tell you mine sucks?].

Mine really wasn’t that bad when it came to rendering, maybe 10 mins or so, and I really don’t have a kick-ass machine or anything. Leaves me to wonder why yours took sooooooooo long mate? Did you get any kind of result at all, or have you just given up on getting a render out of it? I’m just real interested to see how others came out. I’ve since played with the textures/lighting, and got this image instead:

And can’t decide which is better - any ideas?

Cheers!

I really don’t know why it took so long [maybe I really am 3ds max-challenged]. It let it render for a few days it got about… 1/8 through the image. I never actually got to the actual cell. Maybe I made my scene larger than necessary, I really don’t know. I’m afraid to try again, I’ll probably fry my comp lol.

Yo this way my version of the tutorial, no postwork done :stuck_out_tongue:
