I know, u are an alien!
What is the goal of this work? Zillions of poly just for happiness or what?

@forelle: Thanks a lot! I’ll shoot you a mail when it comes to texturing the cockpit. I’ll definitely record a video once I polished my rusty Mari knowledge and send it to you
@AlexAndrieL: Haha thanks! Oh it’s all about pure happiness and self torture
The goal is to make something I am satisfied with, that simple. Will that be the case? hard to tell yet!
Finally found a bit of time now to dedicate some attention to the inside of the pilot’s door.
Just saw your works in the gallery here and personal site. You have a true passion for aircrafts))
Cool stuff.
@xtrm3d: Here is a tiny one, oo much work at work these days :-/
@AlexAndrieL: Thanks and I guess passion could be a synonym for crazy
Here’s a little update. I (re)sculpted the leather part on the inside of the pilot’s door. For some reason I had a lot of zBrush crashes and some annoying distortions in the normal map when baking it out. So this here is just 1:1 the high res mesh for now.
Hope you like it!
Cheers
Andre
Finally found some time to work on a few things again. Has been a long time…
Worked a bit on the displacement and bump maps. This is a crop of an 8K render.

Some leather texture and shader but overall it looks too shiny and new

Hope you like it!
Cheers
Andre
@Punkt34: Thanks glad you like it! It’s all vray and octane so far.
First seat leather sculpt and the folding mechanism on the left.
Chewing on the remaining to-do list
Cheers
Andre
Lovely updates, those 8k renders are still eye-popping to say the very least, but here I’m especially zeroing in on the door leather interior’s and seat, with shader + textures. Wow…will look the absolute bomb, once further
wear-n-tear details worked in
Cheers
@sacboi: Thanks glad you like it! I hope to show updates soon… work has been crazy recently so all I do is working and sleeping (too little).
First batch of dirt rolled in
Still finding the look of the weathering. Some dust and sand from missions on top of the usual wear and tear. Of course the floor is going to see the most of it later. The brown leather part needs some more love too.
Hope you like it!
Cheers
Andre
wip`s comments are important things;)
As i am watching your project, i realize that it is a mountain-weight folder for backups) Tons of polys of course could be zipped but lots of textures, maps, baking-shaking and so on…
Oh man, I’d love to see this get sold to Digital Combat Simulator. I want to fly it in it’s full glory.
hi andré, insane project indeed, one question regarding to rendering, you are using octane as far as i know, how long does it take to render such an interior 8k picture with all those crazy details, can you tell us some times ?
When the page loaded, the first picture I saw was the last one from your post and, I swear, I thought it was a photo reference…
@AlexAndrieL: Yeah the data pile is growing but overall it’s not too bad. Yes texture files like tiled exr and the PSB files are the biggest pieces. But storage is cheap so I am running a triple backup.
@AncienRegime: Me too!
@PsiKick: Thanks! I am using Vray and Octane, depends on the mood of the day and what;s quicker to set up for the part I worked on that day. The crop of the 8K render (the tail fin) was actually Vray. Render time on that wans;t too crazy, have to re-render and look it up to get the time. I went to get something to eat and when I got back it was done
@Tushkan: Haha thanks, one of the best compliments you can get
No renders tonight until my Titan Z is up and running. I got the UVs for all those panels and little parts done and started throwing some dirt and Russian words onto it. Still WIP as always but I am making some good progress.
One day it’ll be done…
Cheers
Andre
Andre… I think this is one of the top 5 WIP threads on the entire planet in terms of CG skill, dedication and execution. Pure inspiration, just amazing.
