MFA. vs BFA. in SVA

#1

Hi all,
I just got an admission that I got accepted to SVA’s MFA computer art program. I was so happy  but also struggling.
I also really like their courses in bachelor degree of animation in SVA, which can also learn more about traditional animation, and the reason I did not apply it because I thought I have to take SAT. Few weeks before I found out that I am so stupid that an international student dose not request SAT. It still has time for me to apply their bachelor degree of animation. But I need to give up this chance to MFA
I need some advice?

by the way, I am an international student who already had bachelor degree in animation, but want to learn more about traditional animation and 3D animation.

Thank you.

My personal opinion would be to stay with the MFA. I expect it would present more opportunities for you than another bachelors degree in a field you already have a BFA in.

You can also take some of those animation classes while in the MFA program. Some programs require you to take electives and those animation courses may qualify.

I know someone who attended the MFA in animation at SVA. It is a VERY good program and well respected. The problem is that it is VERY hard to get a job in the industry particularly with Dreamworks laying off half of their staff. If you are lucky, you might get some contract work.

Frankly, knowing what I know,I would not recommend anyone going into the field now. Sadly, I think you will ignore my advice to your detriment.
