today again i was reading that studios used to messiah are jumping to other progs like m__a,
x_i, m_x may be not true.
i am new to messiah and in my not important opinion its a great animation programm.
so is it true or not are there still studios and profs. using messiah and does it make sence to get deeper inside messiah and get a chance for a job later (i know its a very very small market)
sorry may be stupid questions for you out there
messiah just a tool for hobbists?
I think that messiah is definitelly a high end tool that is better suited to experienced users. Its something that you typically get to complement your existing program and you should be comfortable with learning fast and fill in the blanks in the documentation. Fortunatelly, when the program clicks for you and you grasp some of the workarounds for the limitations - things move very fast. In fact i regularly find myself laughing at how easy and fast i can setup a rig or reuse my existing rig and modify it to suit a new character. On the other hand i also find myself cursing at it when it has inexplicably weaknesses that put me in a difficult corner.
In fact, our studio was working on a project with film roman who specialize in LW and their response as to why they dont use messiah is because it is “too high end”. You may interpret that as you will…
so, to answer your question…is it worth getting into messiah?
Is it worth to get into any program? I feel that animation experience transcends software, if you can animate well and are comfortable with your rigs, your skills are valued regardless of what software you use. In fact, all that matters is the results that you produce with the program of your choice. You will not be limited by messiahs market.
thanks very much stooch
this helps a lot hey i feel much better now
i am a lightwave user and i remember first time i heard about messiah (never tried to use it before to difficult at the beginnig just able to play with the latetool) it was a plugin now after 2 years… hey hey i am a slow learner because i have to “eat” the info cannot just follow tuts
but what about this theorie or lie or whatever studios move to other apps because whatever…
is it a growing community?
I think what Stooch is saying is that if you become a good animator, the studios will train you on their package… Messiah or not.
if you’re from a Lightwave background, like myself & many others here, & you are still looking to join the professional 3d world, I’d strongly recommend learning Messiah. Lightwave is good & quite quick to learn but you’ll find it hard to use anything else as it’s so different in feel to any other 3d app.
If you’re good at your job I’m sure that any company would either retrain you in their main software or buy messiah for you…after all, it’s cheap & works with the main 3d packages.
