hi guys, messiah 2.4c is out
cheers
Strange that the sticky thing makes it go to the top of the list BUT I’ve always felt that posts are LESS obvious there.
IMPORTANT MESSIAH STUDIO PROFESSIONAL 2.4c NOTES:
(NOTE: This document is located in your messiah folder.)
Here are a list of changes and bug fixes for the 2.4c version:
autosave: multiple auto save files are possible now (up to 100, default is 10.)
incremental scene saving: save fxs or mpj file incrementally. The new scene will automatically be incremented by one, so if the original was myscene0001.fxs the new one will be myscene0002.fxs.
object sequence loading added to dmorph. The surfaces will remain the same as those of the base object you applied the dmorph to. This
is handy if you have an object, which has been textured in messiah. When the object is replaced, the texturing will remain intact.
fixed double armature load upon program start
material nodes will not be partially transparent any more obscuring the node text on certain graphics cards when they overlap
fixed the problem of the mat tray selecting the next material down, when you delete a shader from a material, and it’s the only shader left.
fixed the problem with making a gradient and going into the light block and when you double click a light the block would collapse.
the view no longer changes focus to the first view, when saving, or auto save is activated, and you’re in a quad or double view.
cylindrical map fliped on x fixed as well as the rotation assignment problem.
particles - Now able to choose NULLS in particle slave popup.
material copy - connections to material inputs are preserved when a copy material happens.
particle emitter now has visual guides for type (cone, box, plane).
spot light cone can be seen when looking through the spot light as a camera object.
graph now zooms with the current frame marker as the center, instead of the left edge of the graph.
mouse wheel zooms graph when cursor is over graph. Graph view jumps to Current Frame marker.
min max can be set for the viewport sliders.
correct list item is selected after a delete of the last of it’s child items.
reactivated GI lighting from transparent objects.
inactive keys remain inactive, even after being moved in time and selection.
fix to self shadow from no cast shadows, and GI from transparent objects.
fixed chunk files overwritting each other, when 2 messiahs are run on the same machine.
fixed the background image not being scaled to the same fit, as the new viewport camera recticle fitting.
image sequence texture color should behave properly now
fixed a problem where the temp directory was being saved in the scene file, overwriting the temp directory defined in the messiah config file.
it’s also located at the top of the forum in the sticky as already mentioned…sorry I know that you’re all excited but there’s already a thread dedicated to this.
YAAAAAYY!!!
wow so many issues that we brought up have been addressed. this really makes me feel good. time to play with object sequences!
thank you PMG!!!
I have to also throw in a word of appreciation to pmG’s efforts and that they have made good on their recent word.
Seems that the few sceptics on the previous poll can start considering pmG in a new light.
Perhaps time to post something on the Unofficial Messiah 2.4 BUG tracker
FYI i voted that im optimistic about messiah, definitelly not a sceptic.
and thomas… when i figure out the object sequence, ill be looking for some easy glass
Good to know that stooch.
You’re quite a regular and active community member here making a rather meaningful contribution (much more than occasional posters like me).
thanks, at this rate, i can see myself being here for a long time.
I love how pmg is listening to people on here and delivering, very often as of late i might add.
tried that as well. maybe its the lwo files themselves? or maybe the naming convention? it seems that the entire sequence is loading though, it says 400 objects in the status list.
btw i posted the issue into the bug tracker along with a link to the zipped object sequence folder, so if anyone wants to confirm this bug feel free
I don´t know I got your seq to work too, I just tried it. I doesen´t play realtime though
Stooch: I rendered the sequence with a quick and dirty EasyGlass material:

And here is the rendered movie (On2 VP3.2 Codec)

BTW. There is a new bug in messiah with HDRI images: With a HDRI environment and reflections/refractions, the first pass renders fine as expected, but the second pass (AA) is much much brighter (see the image above) and overshot. This makes it hard to predict what the final render will look like. I would say there is a problem with the AA-Interpolation adding up too much brightness?
Cheers,
Thomas
