Mesh deformer


Hi, I keep looking online for answers with no luck… maybe someone here can help.
So you guys know how in C4D you can use a mesh deformer to make a complex model into a soft body? Is there anyway to make it actually deform/look like the OG model when rendered? I’m making these gummies like gummy candy and the cage I have is pretty similar to the original but upon render I lose all the original detail. It just becomes more blobby in shape like the cage. Anyone know any fixes? Do I need to make the cage even more like the original? Wouldn’t that defeat the point?
