Mental Ray (transparent/refraction)

I’m a (beginner) currently working on this key ring model, I’ve tried several different methods to get the bottom part of its body (the slightly transparent bit). I’m not really sure how to go about the material/shader, I’ve already tried adjusting the transparency setting etc but either nothing happened or it doesn’t look right at all. Does anyone know what I should do to achieve the effect?

I would use mia_material with GlassPhysical preset as a starting point.
Then connect ramp texture to transparency slot and set diffuse weight to 1.
