This is an extra special meeting because it is our anniversary - and there will be a few special surprises! The san diego modo user group was established, had its first meeting and was officially sanctioned by Luxology in August of 2006. We had a great first year and hope to grow and have even more exciting meetings and activities in the months ahead!

Our Aerospace Collection group project turned global community project hit its first major milestone with our video presented at the SIGGRAPH 2007 Luxology modo user event in the San Diego Air & Space Museum (SDAM) here in Balboa Park, August 5, 2007. Thanks to all who participated in the project and also to all those who helped with the logistics at the event!
Our group is dedicated to sharing and learning about Luxology’s modo. The SDAM project accomplished those goals FAR beyond our wildest expectations! Many who participated pushed their skills way beyond anything they had done previously, and that is exactly what we hoped would happen. We also had a lot of fun and got to know each other better - another important goal accomplished!
One of the SDAM project participants who moved dramatically from beginner to intermediate skills with this project was Gardner Grady. Gardner built the Ford Trimotor and also designed the official Luxology modo user event logo based on this plane. Gardner will be presenting a live modo demonstration of some of the techniques he learned on this project.

Our SDAM Aerospace Collection video is still a work in progress, but it has a few improvements added since the event (including the soundtrack and the WWI section). The latest version will be shown in our meeting. We will also discuss what is left to do to wrap this project up so the assets can be published for free download to the modo community.
Our group website has also been updated with a slightly new look, and tons of new content from our SDAM project (including final images from the Aerospace and ArchVis models and Storyboard stills from the video):

We hope to see you all at our first anniversary meeting this coming Monday evening!
Thanks,
-Jeff
