Splinter: Im flattered! :slight_smile: Unfortunately, denverchapter.com never really panned out. I personally lost interest in the project and decided to partner up with Rebecca to create foundationalarts.com instead. Im glad to see that there are more Denver-rites coming out of the woodwork though! I’m always up for meeting new peeps so if you ever want to grab a beer and shoot the shit, hollar at me! - J

tizianoadmirer: Thanks for the compliments! Those two images are scanned pencil sketches which were colored in Photoshop. The watercolor effect is done by setting the sketch layer to multiply mode and placing it over the second layer where I lay down my color using very low opacity. I’m working on a video tutorial which explains how its done. I’ll post it here once its complete so keep an eye out for it soon. - J

Thanks! I’m still pretty wobbly but I’m starting get back in my mode. Long pose tends to be a little tougher for me but Im forcing myself to do it until I can get a good study done under an hour.

Excellent work Joel,
Just saw your studies in CA.org. I bet it feels good to get back into life studies. Strong and the knowledge is there. The back view sketches have a sculpural sense to them that I really like. Great work. Keep posting more.

Hi All!

Havent posted in a while… its been a busy month! I was recently commissioned to put together a figure drawing tutorial for 3dtutorials.sk. I took the liberty of recording my session and putting a video together. The devil is turning out nicely, and getting a look at all three stages is very interesting. The link to your vid tutorial is a little off, there is some oddities at the front and on the tail. Trim that off and it works, but I thought you might want to clear up the link. I appreciate the effort, I really enjoy video of how other people work :slight_smile:

Hi Joel! great to see you posting again! really love the devil drawing!.. actually I like the drawing better than the painted version! i think that the accent on the left shoulder was somewhat lost while you painted it.:slight_smile:
