Maya/XSI User That Needs To Start Learning Max

#1

Hey everyone. I’ll start off by saying yes, I know there’s a million threads about this already probably. I’m a fairly skilled Maya/XSI Modeler (really only done Modeling so far, need to get into some new things soon) whose going to be starting to learn Max in school in 2 quarters, January-March and I’m thinking it’d be best for me to get a leg up so to speak on what I’ll be learning. My major is Game Art & Design, so low poly training is best but for now I’d really like to just find a nice series of videos to get me up to speed with Max’s toolset and how to navigate and such. Also, some projects that go through modeling all the way to animating would be great as well.

I learned Maya using Digital-Tutors, and XSI as well mostly. I’m looking for something similar to that, but if I could find some nice basic vids to show the toolset and navigating max, then going on to other DVDs that deal with larger projects, like 3D-Palace’s Dreadnought or something like that. That’d be great.

Anything you can provide, I highly appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

– Jeremy

Anything from CG-Academy is top-notch:

There are 4 new DVDs related to basics of modeling, but you might want to start with the Workflow and Proceduralism series.

Thanks. I was thinking that 3DBuzz’s stuff would be dated. No?
