maya vue xstream rendering???

#1

I’m fairly new to using Vue and I’ve been working on a scene that has some vue plants and then some terrain for the background. I’m using 7 xstream in maya 2009. The current problem that I’m having is that I need to break up my render for some compositing because I have some particles in the scene. I just need to have a small selection of my plants separate from the rest of the vue elements so that I can put those in front of the particles. I’ve looked at the gbuffer and the multipass render option in the vue render options but wasn’t able to get anything to write out the way I needed it. Was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. All I really need is a mask of the specific plants so I’m able to place them in front of the particles for some of the frames.

if your plans in ecosystem, remove them from it.
You can done this in couple ways:
-One export Vue plants as OBJ, import in Maya, now they will interact with particle system.

  • other way, create new layer in Vue, take plants you want to mask and move them to new layer. Hide this layer from rendering. Render this layer separate. Use mask after.
