maya vs max for modeling

Hi guys

I have been using max for 2 years now for modeling but I found that most schools and companies uses maya

so Is it important to learn maya?

If you apply for a job that requires maya - yes. Otherwise - no. However there’s nothing wrong in learning and working in both 3ds max and Maya.

If you are only modeling than it is good to learn both (in all 3d apps you can easily learn modeling in couple of days). But if you want to learn it all (from modeling to production, UV, texturing, animation, render …) than it could be time consuming. I mean it really takes a lot of time (years) to learn all parts of a 3d app.
I suppose your question was only related to modeling so just go for it.
