Maya - Problem when using Poly edge to curve

#1

Hi all

I am using Maya 2016

I am having a small problem. I am converting polygon edges to curve and then using a face and extrude along that line. So if I move the mesh, the line moves so does the mesh extruded with it, which is want I want.

My issue is with the starting point of the edge loop that the mesh doesn’t follow correctly the curve. Other places it follows normally but not there. I am attaching some images to outline the issue.

So my question is Why does that happen and how to fix it?

Hope I am making any sense.
Thank you in advance

Increase subdivisions on that extrude. Or if you are using the nurbs extrude, make sure it works off curve points.

Thank you for your answer but its not that. Here are some more examples…

More subdivisions like you said… the same result. (what drives the line up is the sphere mesh)

Applied on a rigged mouth

In this case I wanted to add an outline without using a toon shader. When I move the controller of the mouth, sometimes in that area the edges flip, or simply doesn’t follow the line as it should

The problem lies where the extrude starts and where it ends. For example if you do a simple line extrude the end part will do the same thing if you move around.

Uh ok, never seen that tho. Can you provide a scene where this happens for us to inspect?

Here it is. Of course to move the line you move the geometry of the sphere
