Maya 2020 on Linux

#1

Maya 2020 seems to have dropped the “Requires a multi-user license, not supported with single-user license.” asterisk from it’s System Requirements page.

Has anyone successfully installed a subscription license of Maya 2020 on Linux?

The System requirements page says that CentOS up to version 7.7 is supported. Has anyone got things running on CentOS 8?

It would be helpful to know if it’s likely to work before I spend time doing the OS installs, just to find out it’s still a non-starter.

Cheers.

I have Installed Maya 2020 on Linux Mint 19.3. It’s a bit of an involved process, but can be done. I am on maintenance plan (perpetual licence) though.

anyone on ubuntu?

Maya 2020 works on CentOS 8. CentOS 8 is missing various libraries you’ll need though. Launch Maya from the command line to find out which ones it is missing. At the time, CentOS 8 wasn’t hosting those libraries or newer ones so couldn’t install them via yum or dnf. I just copied them from a CentOS 7 install and everything worked.

Hi I’m currently installing Maya 2020 on Centos 8

I’ve replaced the /maya2020/lib folder with one from a centos 7.6 install, ran through linking/downloading/copying from centos 8 install any libs that it needs.

I’m now to a point where I get this error: ‘/usr/autodesk/maya2020/lib/libQt5Core.so.5: undefined symbol: ucnv_getDefaultName_50’ and I cant get past this problem.

Previously I tried just installing on centos 8, after fixing some minor symlinks I get to this error: ‘symbol lookup error: /usr/autodesk/maya2020/bin/…/lib/libOGSDeviceOGL4-16.so: undefined symbol: EVP_CIPHER_CTX_init’ and cant get past this.

Any assistance you can give would be much appreciated!

Well, update on this pretty quickly. Its now launching but not using nvidia drivers: VP2 Error : Failed to initialize graphics device.

It works on Centos 7 now with single user credentials prompt box.
I was able to install without trouble on Centos 8 but could not activate my single user license, the mechanism is not yet working in Centos 8.
