Maya 2011 BUGS (Write Here)

#81

I’m able to use the virtual slider (all three buttons work) on your script there no problem with Win 7 64 (Maya 2011 of course).

#82

Yup it works fine. Win 7 here as well.

I am having crazy crashes working with a huge arch/vis scene. Its huge, 8 million polys. If I have all my referances active it will save, but the save file crashes on load. Thank goodness I version. I decided to try 2011 for this shot because viewport 2.0 would make placing things easier. It does.

Maya 2009 - .5 fps
Maya 2011 - 1.2 fps
Maya 2011 viewport 2.0 - 30fps

So viewport 2.0 gets a big thumbs up(except it rotated my uvs on my groundplane). Referencer gets a thumbs down.

use the command key in OS X. works fine. Any time control is used in Windows, it’s generally made command in OS X - you probably know this but it seems that Maya is just now learning to do it across the board, and not just for open/save/etc.

Anyone else notice that the *nix command line control-a/control-e for home/end no longer works in text fields in 2011? Have to use option-arrow, like a word processor.

I’m running OS X 10.6.2 and I haven’t gotten around to installing Maya on Linux and Windows yet, so perhaps this is an issue that only affects OS X. Can someone confirm that Ctrl dragging the LMB.MMB and RMB in a floatField or intField no longer change a value like it used to do?

for me ( winXP64 ) it seems to work .

i create the window , and once my mouse-pointer is over the floatfield i can CTRL+LMB change the value ( though i did not even know yet , that this is possible - it is working here in the windows-version )

Astronaut’s leg is broken on the F1 help frontpage. ( Although he seems OK about it! )

#87

In Windows it is the worst :frowning: Screen goes to white blank if you do something and after that you can’t do anything until rendering is finished. It’s been like that since the very beginning of MR.

I wonder how on earth they could not fix that? V-Ray for Maya works fine without render time “white freezes”.

#88

When I wish to use stroke/reflection in menu for skining I can’t pick. Is this just me or this is major bug???

#89

I have logged the following bug :

356224 Interactive Skin Binding tool window doesn't list Influences correctly

Once a scene with an Interactive Skin Bind is saved, and reopened, the Influences List in the Interactive Skin binding tool settings window is not updated correctly (i.e. not at all or not always, or only when selecting a joint instead of the bound mesh), or sometimes is updated correctly but then selecting a joint crashes Maya.

This is happening here on both Mac OS X 10.6.2 and Win7 x64 on my system.

I have attached to the bug report 3 files that illustrate the problem (one where the list doesn’t update at all, and two where using the Interactive Skin Binding Tool crashes Maya systematically).

Another bug
. create a Lambert in hypershade and change it to blin or whatever another material, Maya CRASH!
. In earlier version you can quickly connect 02 material with left mouse! this function doesn’t work you have to go the connection editor
. or with left mouse button you can expand all the output of material now this function has been changed with the right mouse button
/Rachid

#91

Yeah, the hypershade seems rather buggy at the moment. I had Maya crash while I was adding a mib_illum_lambert.

#92

ya, well that’s always been like that with Maya and Windows. You have to set it to low priority in the taskbar and it behaves a little better. I’m not talking about the whole OS though - just that Maya 2011 is slower and the speed hit/delay is worse when rendering in the background. In 2010, I could model without really knowing I was rendering in the background. In 2011, I’m painfully aware of it. It’s not Windows-style “paint the GUI by numbers” bad but it’s annoying.

#93

1 - Shift+RMB (create poligon primite HotBox ) just stop working on a simple scene.
2 - Need to acually move the camera to refresh the manipulators / Shading view / any kind of change on the Work Screen…
3 - Changing Shader Type (blin to Phong) crashes the entire Software.
4 - takes SO LONG to load the “Features” and “Quality” Tabs on Render Settings.

seriously… Ill just stick with 2009 here at home.

#94

I can’t reproduce these two bugs, on mac as well as on win 7. Have you tried starting from fresh preferences?

#95

changing blinn to phong works fine here too.

#96

On Win 7 I’m having none of these recently posted bugs. Changing material types work. Menus don’t stop working. Things feel pretty solid. The UI is just different enough to annoy me but I’ll get used to it. I’m wondering if these are all related to the trial or something like that.

#97

I can confirm this on my end too. Those tabs take around 5seconds until they responde. Very annoying.

Also, none of the RGB sliders in the color picker work for me. I cannot move them when the setting is set to 0-1. When I use 0-255, I can move the RGB sliders, but the value slider in HSV mode is still broken.

#98

Nurbs:
I’m not sure if this is the default behavior, but it seems broken to me.

When I create a Nurbs primitive like a sphere for example and I then select an Isoparm and insert a new Isoparm, I cannot move the control vertecies any more.
This doesn’t always happen the first time. Sometimes it stops working after inserting the 2nd or 3rd isoparm.
Only way to continue moving the verts is by deleting the history.

#99

Anyone else having long load times for the hypershade?

#100

everyone is. It’s slow
