PLEEZE roll it out! I’m in the middle of a weight painting project, so 2011 is of no use to me w/out a correctly working CE - I’m not using it all.

Sorry if this was already posted…

I get a fatal error when I go into preview texture mode. I tried it on maya primitives with the random texture and it still crashes. My bump/spec maps load in fine but when I import a texture into the Color box it crashes. I’m stumped.

Already posted? If not: The scaling of the soft modification tool doesn’t seem to work properly. The x, y, and z, scale pivot don’t do anything, only the scale-all-pivot (the bluish cube in the center) does.

You didn’t read my location, I guess.

To say that 90% of the bugs are driver problems and PEBKAC is being disingenuous. The broken linear workflow, the slowness to the hypergraph, the endless mental ray glitches, etc are not driver related and they aren’t Mac version problems.

I’ve been playing with the demo for a few weeks. Just installed it at work a couple days ago. It’s already saving me on one project.

I can see a few glitches here and there, but so far the tradeoffs in speed and at least in my case, stability far outweigh any bugs i’ve seen.

Is there already a hotfix thread?
Is it now a full install or a huge patch? Are there only four bugs fixed or maybe more? And has anyone an idea where the hack maya does save crashed files on a Mac? Its not in the /var/ directory anymore is it?

I thought this was a great thread but I had a hard time keeping track of the bugs reported here, and who responded to what exactly. I know, I’m getting old.

Because I thought that it would be a pity to loose track of all these issues, I set up a simple bug tracker that I’ve opened up to everybody. Just so that you can see what it can do, I’ve loaded it with the bugs reported on the first page of this thread. If you don’t mind, I’d like to add all the other bugs reported here too.

Ive got an intersting problem here and i have never seen this before! not sure if anyone can confirm this.

Create a camera in a blank scene, Lock the Y-Translate Attribute and then try to left-Click and rotate. If the camera moves, you see what I mean.
The cam should not move by rotation. This “phenomenon” dissapears when unlocking the Y - translate again.

Im on a Mac Pro 4 i7, 10.6.3 !

Ive tried it with an Intous 3 and a Razer Pro Solution mouse.

Edit: Ive tried it also by locking X and Z and its the same result, except it moves in an unlocked corresponding direction.

Maya has always been full of work arounds… only now people want to call them bugs. If you lock it on the shape node, it will work.

force quit maya and run this in the terminal to find out where it’s saving them:

cat /var/log/system.log | grep “Fatal Error”

Should be the same.

Come Monday i can post my .bash_profile that saves out your maya crash saves in a much more convenient location rather than being hidden away :slight_smile:

I personally wouldn’t change that - I have my terminal open always anyway and a simple mayacrash command that spits out the file name and I just right click that path and open it with the sweet OS X Open selected text service.

Are you talking about that ‘maya terminal’ that can be found in the maya2011 folder? I don’t even know if it’s in the maya2010 folder.
But if it’s not, how do you open access it?
Curious to see what info it gives during the use of maya. And is this the same like the annoying ‘output window’ for the windows version that keeps opening up?

no the OS X Terminal.app in utilities. It’s the command line interface. This is what I’m talking about above:

ok, but then: how do you get the terminal to receive messages from the maya core? Does it happen automatically? I don’t think so.

Only if you actually launch Maya from the terminal.

Edit: For some weird reason… Maya just stopped holding History… whats going on here? :S
Edit2: got it working… how dumm i am… i togled off the History button on the top.

Here are a couple I filed:

359313 FBX Export loses UVs

This seems to have happened since the Hotfix 1 release. Easy to reproduce here, just export a model with UVs as FBX, do a New Scene and reimlort the FBX file. No UVs. This cripples using Mudbox to sculpt the mesh with.

358442 Incorrect Error message on audio file import

This is apparently an old problem, since I can reproduce it in Maya 2009. If you have an audio file in an incorrect format, such as one with 32-bit sampling or stereo, and try to import it, you get a “File not found” error instead of saying the format itself is unsupported.
