is this done in flamingo or maxwell.how to setup lighting, reflection environment to get this.is it possible to fake caustics with projector map?how to get the glare effect from diamond?please give your suggestion. thanks.

Hi rusted

About those examples you included, i don’t think either of them is rendered with Maxwell or Flamingo, it’s probably something else, could be Vray… but i’m not sure. The setup used is a typical jewelry type setup, it’s not that tricky to do, a couple of bouncers, a enviromentmap for reflections and a floor and ofcourse a camera.

The glare could be a postprocess effect, but depending on the engine used it can sometimes be added directly upon rendering.

However i can give you a recommendation from a personal point of view when it comes to jewelry rendering, in this case it’s about stills. For stills i can highly recommend Maxwell, it creates outstanding results and will make your jewelry look and feel realistic.

I would recommend Maxwell for jewellery… Take a look at my site. www.cadjewellery.com

Most is Maxwell. I started on flamingo but max is best for caustics and dispersion. It can be slow if scene not setup correctly.

If you have any questions about Max just ask.

www.3dvision.org.uk also for max stuff

We use VRay to render all our jewelry designs. IMHO Flamingo isnt that good.

Also take a look at these jewelry renderings hdesbois have done with a old Maxwell version, they are outstanding and very realistic.

Hi,
did you consider fryrender, same type of unbiased as maxwell, maybe a bit faster, and is certainly developed quicker than maxwell, and costs less!
