Thank god!
Maxon Cinema 4d R11
On OS X, if you switch to 64 bit mode, you are still able to use Quicktime (which is a 32 bit app only). We were able to circumvent this limitation of Quicktime so you now still have the full QT functionality from within CINEMA 4D 64 bit on OS X.
Also from R11 on you can embed audio in your renderings. This is especialy usefull for quick previews you need to check timing.
I own both a Windows machine and a Power Mac. Can I run R11 on both at the same time???
Legally, no. Its still one licence, its just with all the macs blurring the lines, it was time to scrap the win/osx limit.
I like to call it the bisexual licence.
One hell of an update I have to say. Congrats Maxon for making it an awesome release.

So, in essence, I can have C4D installed on both platforms, but only have one in use?
This is helpful, once I upgrade to a Mac Pro.
What is the US cost of the service contract? There was no mention of it on the Maxon page, and I tried calling Maxon directly, but I think they are busy…
The “MAXON Service Agreement” (MSA) is optionally available to MAXON customers. Participating customers are kept up-to-date with the newest releases of CINEMA 4D and/or BodyPaint. As soon as a new software version is available MSA participants will receive these automatically, allowing participants to immediately take advantage of all new features and advancements. The “MAXON Service Agreement” (MSA) is optionally available to MAXON customers. So, much like the XSI maintenance contract, the updates are included within the cost of the service agreement?
Whereas, without the service contract, you can download any fixes/updates using the Online-Updater, but would pay for point upgrades.
If you have two licenses then yes. Additonal licenses come at a very much reduced rate.
If you have a service contract you are allowed to use a second installation on a mobile system.
Still no Quicktime on Vista x64 I guess? Well, it´s not that important…
Are there any improvements to the Network Renderer GUI? The site just speaks of general improvements to render settings. I was once on a project with a lot of renderjobs - and it was quite annyoing if you wanted to put a certain job to the top the list (clicking 50 times).
I was looking into Final Render or V-Ray, but with R11 i´ll probably stick to AR3 and maybe try RenderMan. Its really nice to see how Maxon has improved C4D over all those years (i think i started with a Demo of R5 or R6). Keep up the good work! :)
Michael Marcondes and I are working on some killer stuff with it. We hope to have the first feature shots done with the commercial version.
Woo Woo! This made my month.
Great work guys!
Is CineMan to be sold as a module?
When is the new SDK coming out, I want to try C.O.F.F.E.E. code to define parameter values!!!
really amazing Update, thanks Maxon!!
What really interests me though, maybe Srek can answer this, is:

Is the performance of the editor better? When animating riggend characters in Cinema4D, the editor gets very slow… and makes animating of rigged objects quite uncomfortable.
Is that improved in R11?
Because if not, all the cool new animation features (which sound AWESOME) are only half as useful. -
Are the Vista Open GL Bugs gone?
Thanks a lot,
Oliver
I am testing the demo now and am very impressed with this release overall it’s another big stride forward.
The editor performance of rigs is mostly determined by the exact setup. I’ve seen complex but very fast ones as well as dreadfully slow ones with no special capabilities.
There was no fundamental change in how the editor or the expressions work that could make a slow rig go fast in R11.
All the Vista / CINEMA 4D OGL problems i know of are caused by drivers. Different drivers, different problems. We managed to get control over some of the nastier ones (preview rendering on OS X, tranparencies with ATI), but that was mostly by working around the bugs or simply disabeling the offending functionality (thankfully the later has finaly been adressed by ATI).
