Materials on rhinoceros...

#1

Hi.

Long time ago that I don’t post on CG forums.

I am looking for Rhino tutorial or explanation about the materials.

I need to put a realistic material on rhino for a school proyect (That’s because I cant use another software to do the materials), and I had search all rhino menus and I dont find it.

The Basic Material on rhino is very poor to my objective (relections and another stuff)… or maybe I dont understand it at all.

Someone can help me with explanation or tutos about rhino materials?

pd.
Sorry about my english.

What render engine are you using? Flamingo? VRay? or the standard Rhino Renderer?

If you are just using the standard Rhino Renderer you cannot expect to do great lighting/reflections/materials… Flamingo you get better and then VRay even still.

Personally I don’t know much about materials in Rhino as I have never believed Rhino was capable as a good renderer - times are starting to change :).

I was just searching through the Rhino 3 help and found the mention POV as a render engine. I have never used it before but it is apparently free and available here http://www.povray.org. The basic materials have quite good reflections

Rhino 4 help is more comprehensive but is only really relevant for Rhino 4… I’m assuming you don’t have it so I won’t go into it.

The easiest way to get feedback is post images and show us specifically what your problem is. Rendering is an extremely broad topic so please narrow the field and show us images of your problems.

I use the native Rhino render engine.

Yesterday a contact told me about the limits of rhino render, and I dont know if my teacher want or acceept a work help by flamingo or Vray.

But, I going to use flamingo… No matter what happend.

Thank you
