Material presets for v7?

#1

Anyone know of a good repository of materials for v7 (that don’t require extra plug-ins)?

There’s EI’s own tiny wiki of four textures. And there’s the ol’ Electro303 library at Paralumino, but most are six years old (few have fresnel or falloff effects).

Well, we put together this for that very purpose,

I think Dave is the only person to have contributed so far…

I tried a while ago also to contribute something, but figured out that the materials do not look the same when using other lighting set-up´s. Therefore i did not submitted nothing yet.

Here´s one example what i mean. For my material set-up learning i use the fantastic cgsphere file from Hans. You can see on the left, how my material looks when used with Gianluca´s file. Maybe other´s encountered similiar effects, hence not much people
provided materials yet?!

Stefan

P.S. for those who viewed this already i forgot to tick the “World Map checkbox” which is now corrected in the left image. Sorry about that!

Hi Stefan.

Materials are especially vulnerable to change with different reflection maps.
Please feel free to render the material with Hans’ reflection map.

Please upload the reflection map as well (with hans permission of course)
You can upload the reflection with the material in a ZIP, or separately. If you load the image by itself (separate from the material file), just include a link to the map download in the material description.

You may also want to include some keywords in the description when you upload the reflection map so people can find it with a keyword search.

Thanks for contributing.

Dave

Hi Dave,

unfortunately the reflection map itself is not from Hans. It´s a watermarked commercial demo map from a german company. I like however to submit the material, if i would know where i can find a suitable (interior?) reflection map in the public domain.

Stefan
