Matchmoving a still/photo

#1

Hey all!

I got a question about matchmoving a photo or a video from a fixed camera on a tripod. Is it possible to match the perspective with Boujou in a picture or single frame and export that data (solved cam and scene) to maya? I know ive seen a tutorial of some kind where they drawed lines and measurements on windows/doors to make the software calculate the perspective and measurements of the scene, but I can’t find that anymore and I dont know what software they used. I am a beginning user in Boujou, so hopefully its possible in that.

Hopefully somebody can help me out! I will need it in a scene where im filming a street from a tripod with a guy walking in it, and I need to composit some 3D objects in it.

Thanks in advance!

[EDIT]

Found the solution with syntheyes, but I dont want to buy another program (http://ssontech.com/content/aligner.htm)

Is this also availble in boujou?

Shouldn’t it be easy enough to match the perspective by hand? Without seeing the shot I can’t really say, but it seems to me like it should be easy enough to just attach an image plane of your footage to a camera in your 3d package and fiddle with the position of the object and parameters of the camera until it looks right. Without any movement in the shot I don’t see why this wouldn’t work, just gotta push around some pixels for a bit, unless the shot is a lot more complicated than I’m imagining.

Well its harder than it seems. You have to guess the lens, FOV, distances, perspective etc etc. Its possible manually yeah, but its really a pain in the ass and it takes some time. I see that it is pretty easy and fast to do with syntheyes, So I kinda hoped Boujou had a simular feature. Would save me some time and frustration.
