Master and Servant 3D Entry: Robert Mack

#301

Here we go again! Another twisted update!

Not really an advice to improve… but from your much earlier sketches, I had not expected your scene to be this vbrant. The colours are alot more saturated than I thought they would be.
Maybe if you would tone down the saturation of the textures and age them at a variaty of parts, it might look a bit more fitting to it all.

My other thing would be the light you have chosen… an aditional creepy light source from where we look could help rid the dark shadows from the mounds… but well thats in the render stage anyways. I’ll bother you on that when the time come

Things are really starting to settle here. Going great!

#302

Hi!!!
Successful composition in background for reflecting the mood of your concept, I think…I didn’t guess it will be so effective while looking at your sketches only, but this musn’t mean your sketches aren’t good…Keep the childhood’s nightmare up, pal!!!

To Daddymack. Gutta capidem lavat. In fact the translation is a bit wrong. It’s very hard to translate it to any language absolutely correctly. It can be translated this way: Water doesn’t flow uder lying stone. (Russian version: Portwine doesn’t flow uder lying stone). It means, that you have to work to achive result. I just tryed to cheer you up.

Fanks for your translations of lol, BTW, LYW.

#304

That’s a nice update mate, exact style of enviroment for creatures like you are making  scary and with some childish elements, freakin’ good atmosphere…

good luck!

#305

Nice update, love this twisted orphenage and these tortured trees. But I agree with BlackDidThis concerning the saturation, maybe thats a little too much for the backround, a little too eye-catching. You should try to desaturate and dirty it.

Just woke up and thought I’d check in before going about my duties, it’s a sweet start to the day to find all these kind words from you poeple, thank you guys deeply

soapy… Thanks man, the word ‘happy’ is way up on my list I’m leaing a little towards happy hills at the moment

Deadly Force… I know the feeling man…Cheers

Mordalles… Thank you…I wish I could have some blank spaces for a while…

DaddyMack… If you keep posting wierdo stuff I’m gonna stop talking to you…

cipher… hahah, ouch… lego, that hurt man, I agree…Thanks for your honesty cipher, much appreciated

arlutik… Cheers, I thought the trees really added to the scene

makaron… Did I mention that I live on a house at the top of a hill… thanks for your kind words both here and in our PMs

alexfalchi… Thanks again man

BlackDidThis… Ulp…you hit me right where it hurts there mate, rendering is still a major weakness for me, I only just discovered mental ray and (out of the closet here) every shader so far has been a maya fast skin shader…sobs…I’ll make some time to read up and investigate further real soon… I’d really dig having you around to hold my hand a bit during the rendering too so thanks man:thumbsup:

J++ Dragon… Let’s be honest here, my sketches did kinda suck! I only scribbled them out instead of spending a couple of hours to communicate my idea clearly…To keep the honesty going I myself didn’t think this project would look as good as it does so far…It’s constantly surprising me as well:shrug: Thanks for your kind words J++ I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far;)

suk-grigorij… Got it now…it was what we call here in oz ‘a kick in the bum’ or a push, some motivation toward your goal… thanks mate, no more excuses… I’ll get stuck into it tonight

Crying Horn… Very kind words, thank you, I’m trying

Cheers all you folk who take the time, I write down all the names and pointers you offer and keep them as reference while I work so it’s definitely time well spent:bowdown:…thanks

Hi to all you lurkers too :wavey: I hope you’re liking this thread

#307

Oh when it comes to Mental ray… (and ESPECIALLY with MaYA)… I am well familiar with rendering.
And I would LOVE to be of use to you and your powerful creation!

Just tell me when!

Black

#308

Just to bottomline it…I really like it…the mood and feel fit really well with your cast of creations…Well done daddy…Really doing a very nice job here on all fronts…:arteest:

#309

Hey wow thanks, was just reading and saw that Reiv got in just before I last posted…

Reiv… thanks for taking some time to visit this mere mortals thread, the image was actually tweeked up in photoshop because I thought it looked a bit plain…rendering ubernoobness… notes well taken …

BlackDidThis… jumps out of chair with excitement…my kids look at me strangely…I recompose myself… they go back to their drawings… thanks man, I appreciate your offer a great deal and would benefit massively from your experience when I really start fumbling my way through the final image… how exciting:bounce:

Virtuoso… thanks again Michael, I’m really glad someone who can produce such quality work can appreciate my humble clickings

:wavey: I see you…

#310

so You live in a house on a hill for real… nice  but I´m hope you don´t have a flat cat… LOL

#311

Hahahh lol Makaron…we affectionately call him slim, he’s kinda part of the family…I said I had cat issues…Me hangs me head in shame for me’s poorest attempt at humour yet in this thread…I’ll make my comeback soon…

#312

The house looks pretty good, no crtiques to be given. As for the name…hehe, good luck getting a good one out of me; When I have a wife, she’s naming the kids (otherwise they’ll end up with ancient Roman/Greek/Norse/Egyptian names:p ). How about “Mirthful Manner” (hehe, told you).

#313

Hah!, you made me laugh ace…I’ve had a really rough day too:cry:sniff don’t wanna talk about it …so cheers James…your name isn’t anywhere near the worst on my list if that’s any consolation… OT …Would you believe I have a yard monster named ‘RA’ (egyptian sun god etc)… He’s a 65kg Rottweiller who thinks he’s a lap dog…he’s got drooling issues…gets along with cats fine tho…wierdo…

One of my clients pushed forward a deadline so I have to spend a night or two catching up his work instead of mine… gotta feed my family and all too… I know I said no more excuses, Zombie Mother is taking her form, she’s just a bit shy at the moment about her looks… She promises me that she’ll make an appearance soon though, and she’s already taken a few swings at poor Zombie Dad, so she’s showing some personality even in her current crude form…shows promise;)

Seriously though, a heartfelt and humble thanks for all the support you folks… I would definitely not have this project looking half as well so far without all your help:bowdown:

#314

Still in awe, and ejoying your thread very much.

#315

Wow, thanks handlebar, your skills are most enviable, and your compliment is received very well, I’m pickled tink that you are enjoying this project too mate:thumbsup:

While I knock over some irrelevant stuff I’ll try have a fiddle with the layout and post an updated composition test to keep some semblance of progress happnin here…

:wavey: back soon

#316

Maybe he gets along fine with cats because the Egyptians adored cats a lot. I saw that big yard monster in the “Show a picture of your pet” thread I think. I want a Rottweiller one day, think I’ll name him Odin. Waiting for more updates:bounce: .

#317

oh! come on! how does it come I´m not suscribed?
I love the mood on the scene and the concept. Reminds me to Tim Burton.
