Ok, let’s get on the subject.
Good idea of you to first explain some ideas you had in mind. I could write about your ideas, but I will be keeping it short if you don’t mind. About the symbiotic interpretation: great thinking. That could be a great step towards a amazing idea/image. The tower-idea is a good one, but I think you can go much deeper. As for the last sketch you provided us with: wow! And yes, I really mean wow. You said you have troubles visualizing emotion properly, well… I think this sketch shows that you can. And it’s just a sketch: good job 
As for the content of the image, It feels like those 2 slaves are trying to relate physically, trying to help eachother escape from their feelings. That’s what you wanted to visualize right? If you could show us why they have those feelings, why and where there is a master… Then we would get a little bit more of a concrete image. Anyway, this would be difficult, If you want to keep it more symbiotic. I hope you find the right solution… I wish you the best of luck
Sorry for not mentioning the other 2 ideas, I just think your last idea is the best so far.

Deryk: heheh thanks Deryk, It seems i dont have that much time and i think the tower idea is just a bit to much work in such a short time. i will be working on it but not for the challenge anymore.
theChap: Heeey mate, i surprised myself too . The last concept can actually be interpreted in many ways, and i’m going to work out a few “sub ideas”. It started out pretty much the way you described, but after awhile more and more other backstories came to my mind. What was really getting into my head was the idea of showing a particular love relationship in an iconic way. The image shows them holding eachother and they are kissing or are about to kiss (like in the conceptsketch). Both hold one hand pretty close behind the head of the other… wires or wirelike things are attached to the fingers and wrap themselves around the other person. This signifies, i hope, the attempts of one lover to control the other… both trying to be the master although in this case they arent aware of that (their eyes are covered). What they dont know is that love is their master and controls them in many ways.
Addition: they could be standing on a pillar of rock which is slowly crumbling apart. If one of them falls, love will keep them together.
Its a suffocating relationship which i have seen too much. Couples fighting it out to the point they almost throw knives at eachother... and later on sit on the coach eating icecream and saying sweet things. Their love is real, but it also brings out other emotions.
Bit worried though… not sure if this take on the subject is good for the challenge. The definition of Master and Servant is not clear from the beginning and maybe it has to many other meanings.

I’ve had interpreted the last concept sketch somewhat different: They both can’t see, so it doesn’t matter who the other is. They’re servants of our primitiv instinct of reproduction.
But your idea is better!
I don’t mind if you won’t model anything if you keep those images coming, they’re gorgeous! 
I think your latest concept is very good and very interesting… I understand a really similar story when I saw your sketch… good point for you… and for you talentuous pen

Reiner … been watching this ( and your brain) unfold … and it’s been fun … i liked the concept behind the TOWER piece and how it relates to corporations, but i agree that it is a piece that requires alot of detail and time …
the LOVERS, at first I was wondering where you would take it … and when you threw up the back-story, i started to appreciate it a lot more … the dark side of romance, is a nice and powerful concept …
i’ll be looking for the next step in this developing concept

Deryk: Thank you Deryk :). it’s a bit of a shame about the tower idea, but one of the reasons for joining this challenge was to learn something about character creation and try to evoke emotions as that is a pretty big weakness of me. The Lovers idea is better suited for that.

wow, am I glad I clicked this thread, fantastic concepts man!! seriously!
I love the current one you have going on, dont really understand it, but it definatly has emotion to it. BTW, before I do this I want to ask your permission… My current entry is about me being a slave to love and such, your current concept with the blindfold really grabbed me and made me want to add a blindfold to my guy, just to bring that extra thing of love in there, you know “love is blind” I really think it would add to my guy… However you you say I can’t then I wont No worries.
FANTASTIC job so far man, I cant wait till you start modelling!!

Reinier, you have incredibles concepts! just love the way you draw and color your concepts! At first i prefered the Tower idea, but as you said you dont have much time, and after read the description of your last ideia, i think it will be GREAT! See love in this way is totally unusual for me and, saying it so, very original!

I advise you to think, what else depending on slave or servant? May be the existance of the master itsealf. I mean that master is not master without a servant or slave. Slave is the one who makes person a master. Nobody can turn someone to slave, until this someone agrees to become a slave.
Also i advise you to think, WHY the servants are starting to pull themselves free.
