Master and Servant 3D Entry: Martin Brennand

Hey Erilaz!

Wish all the best man! May it all be as fruitful as in the daily sketches!

#12

Hi erilaz,
good luck for the challenge. :buttrock:

#13

wow, love the concept

I hope you can make a sinister ambient like you just did in the drawing. When I saw it I thougth like:
cloudy and heavy weight in her shoulders

#14

Starting work on the head for the monk. It’s going to be a tough challenge to complete! Naturally, with my skill level I’m only aiming to finish, not to win!

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone!

#15

He man I hope you manage something great. Looks like a good start. Some wires would be more helpful though.

:buttrock:
Now get back to work!:deal:

#16

Thanks dmonk… I immediately thought of wires AFTER I posted! From now on I’ll show a cross section of wires/smoothed.

#17

Good luck to you mate! Hope to see more updates! :wip:

#18

Very slow going… I’m working insane hours right now, so i’m squeezing this in any chance I get! Pummel my modelling with critique! As I’m predominantly a game modeller, I tend to cut corners.
Again, thanks for the encouragement guys.

#19

Hi erilaz. Nice start. The corners of the mouth and eyes need some more edges quick! Try to get your edges to flow along the face like the muscles would go. Its a bit more work to start off with, but a lot easier to add detail or make changes later. Check this tutorial out: The Hobbit Guy: Dave K’s Poly Head Modeling Tutorial it helped me alot. Good luck:thumbsup:

#20

I like creepy themes. The idea with the monk is great and I wonder how does the hole scene look like? Good luck

#21

hey erilaz, found you! reading through the posts when I get the time. L8r!

#22

hey dude, its coming along nicely

#23

I have so little time at the moment, and my home pc is screwed! I’m waitng for my shiny new box to arrive, then I can put this project into gear!

#24

Thanks for the support guys! I checked out that tute Synthesizer, and I’ll try and get those edges working! Hope you’re all having fun nutting out the pieces!

#25

I know i’m taking FOREVER with just this head, but I’ve already told you the reason for that! Lunchbreaks just aren’t long enough!

#26

Best wishes.

Note: I saw many modellers but you are one of the kind which not skips some details like the throat of a man

#27

Greets Erilaz, good start man, maybe a bit more jaw?
Will be hanging about to see where you go with this for sure:thumbsup:
Good luck beating off father time…

Hi Martin!
Nice progress so far.
A front on shot is very hard to realise as there is minimal info for the viewer to go on. Also you have horizontal and verticle main lines which makes things static. When you have your models experiment with tilting the heads so you get a relationship between your actors but also some slanting to bring in diagonals. Mess with your camera positions. Try out some dramatic high and low positions and move the camera off centre left and right to get diagonal lines on the shoulders.

The head model might look good if you pull out the sides of the head as the outter eye extremes are a bit close to the outter parts of te skull. Also the jaw corners could come out a bit, quite a bit.

Go Ozzie Go!

#29

heheh
that mouth gives him a bitter expression, very appropiate

great concept! potential for lots of emotion. the edge loop that goes around the mouth needs to start above the nostril, then you’ll have the geometry to do the volume of the cheek. here’s another good tut with more of a box-modelling approach than hobbit guys (which is also great).
