I entered the last time and did not even get started due to my professional commitments. I hope it does not get to be a habit
. This time I hope to finish on time. I am sure if you people have some patience with a novice and help me with this I will succeed in putting up some humble effort. I havent been active online lately, but I am taking a long vacation from April so I will have more time here. Thanks for your patience and encouragement from some of you guys…
Well… First things first… Concept… Right away I want to start off with something that I feel will do justice to the theme… feedback is always welcome… (bouquets brickbats… here I come…)
It is a strange new world… far ahead in the future… The human race has advanced beyond its dreams and yet the human beings have become less emotional, sometimes devoid of any kind of feelings… Robots servants are ubiquitous… but their presence is strangely resented by the humans even though their lives depend on these bots and their service. The world is ruled by a powerful council of men who keep the public in line like the Roman Dictators of old. The human populace has started to become restless… and to divert the minds of the rebellious public, a senator comes up with an idea of an amphitheater like the Roman Colliseum where bots will fight bots or humans fight bots. In this bloodthirsty sport arena, bots are destroyed by the thousands as the humans cheer lustily for the destruction of these androids. This is the scene I want to recreate.
A scene of devastation with bot parts smashed all over and one victorious bot waiting over a half-destroyed bot, waiting for a signal from the Senator for a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
I want to show compassion in the eyes of the bots, even the victorious one and a plea for mercy from the bot lying down while the senator is about to show a sign with his thumb. Total domination by the human masters as the poor bots go to their destruction willingly as sport for the spectators. The arena scene is somehow a powerful image of human power and also an ironical contrast between non-feeling humans and emotional bots. I hope you shall all help me with deciding the camera angles and the feel of the scene. Thank you.
