Ok, I’ve finished modeling most of the ogre. There’s still some areas that I don’t like, but also some that I’m guite pleased how they turned out. I’ll do most of the details to skin with displacement and bump maps. I hope they save this model:) It’s still too smooth.
Master and Servant 3D Entry: Juho Salila
I think the chest should come out a bit, it looks sunken in. Maybe the belly could be raised just a bit too. Nice work on him btw.
nice work so far, I agree with ace4016, adjust the chest and move the bottom part of the collar bones out.
Cool looking model, the ogre is really comming along. I like the details you’ve modeled into the face and hands. You might want to add more defintion to the collar bone and the pecs, they look a little flat rigth now. But the shape is general is great, especially the feet. Keep up the good work, and good luck with the texturing. Alexi
damn this some great stuff. I love your girl, and your monster looks great too. I’ve got no crits… just keep it up:thumbsup:
Thanks for your advices again everybody. Especially Versiden, ace4016 and alexichabane without you I would’ve missed the chest problem totaly. I push it out more right now.
The legs aren’t really working out for me. I’d rather see them as either human like feet or smaller. The emphasis on this creature is at the bottom now. It doesn’t seem so powerful now. It looks like it can kick you rather then hit you.
There also seems to be something wrong with the biceps. They seem somehow…flattened.
However I do like the upper body a lot. I like the shape of the collarbones the wrinkles under the ribcage. ![]()
Finally an update. I’ve had some problems with displacement, but after some massive tweaking, I got it somewhat right. I’ll do next the color map for the ogre. I hope it won’t take as long as the displacement map.
Hi juhone, sorry but I liked the look of your model better before displacement…
Also I think maybe he should have a bit of ‘fat and sag’ on his chest, like his stomach.
Great work so far, keep it coming:thumbsup:![]()
I have to agree with daddymack, the displacement looks somewhat…funny. Unnatural. It makes the ogre look like it was carved out of rock. Is it supposed to appear so? I’d drop down the values a bit myself. Great idea though, it gives new life to the model.
I like the new legs better too.
I’m eagerly waiting for new updates!
I’ve been really busy lately. But I finally managed to get the ogres’ material done. There’s still some issues with it, but nothing special I think.
It looks great! The only comment i can think of is to make the color of nails darker, but that is only a matter of tastes, it is super as it is anyway! ![]()
So, I’ve finally rendered the picture out. No big changes in the lighting. There’s a skylight, key light and a couple of omnis. As you all can see, there’s still much to do, but I’m glad that I’m in the final meters with this project. I marked some things to do in post effects.
Finally I’m done! After hours and hours of work. I’m happy to say it’s ready. Of course there’s stuff I’m not satisfied, but I’m quite pleased how it turned out in the end. I think there still would’ve been tons of stuff to do, but I don’t have the time to do them due some deadlines in school. I’d like to thank all who helped me with comments and suggestions.
Bye and good luck with the competition!
Nice work indeed. I hope you find time to truly fix everything you want to before the challenge deadline.

Pitty you won’t find the time to expand this great entry…
