I haven’t had a chance to look at everone’s concepts yet, so this may already be in progress somewhere else, regardless…
don’t have a sketch yet…
But I’m thinking of something long the lines of a wiry, slack-jawed guy hunched over a keyboard and mouse with his head tipped back looking up into a massive crt monitor, which begs the question…who’s the master and who’s the servant?

Here we have a computer user who thinks he’s controlling his über machine, when in reality, the machine is controlling him…keeping him inside and at the keyboard. - Note the clutter around him…empty soda cans and chineese takeout boxes…even a mini-fridge under the desk and a couple dirty dishes as well!
The space below the shuttered window will probably have some neglected recreational items…football, bicycle etc…things the computer is keeping him from.
hey, wintemute! THat’s a great concept there. but i think you can definitely improve your idea and execution. FOr me, instead of two big monitors staring back at him, i could add hands to the monitors, seemingly trying to push him into the pc world. The monitors could be drawn like a mouth too, like the pc trying to “eat” him in! 
Wel, just a little idea. But you could definitely improve this concept your trying to convey.

ms@zx, that’s an interesting idea! I’m thinking of keeping the hardware relatively “real” without overly personifying the hardware. I think I’ll include a surround sound setup on his pc, letting the surrounds become arms that reach around and draw him in further.
I’m also not set on this particular composition…Need to do more sketches…

I think that’s a good idea to girdle the guy with all kinds of computer peripherys, like the machine’s really closing him inside, not letting anything in or out…
Well, here is my insanely rough start at modeling my servant. The computer user.
This is only the 3rd time I’ve attempted to model a human. Right now there are no hands. Box modeling all the way here in Blender.
I figured I’d start off by making somebody of ideal proportions, then pushing the verts around to make him into somebody whose physical activity is limited to little more walking to and from the bathroom and the computer.

The majority of your edge loops look great, you should have enough polies to pull that face out of there. Just be careful near you eye socket area…looks like you might have to do some surgery :banghead: But hey that’s what late nights, coffee and a killer leather chair are for.

Versiden: My 1st thought for this challenge was an ata drive chain, master and slave drives 
But I think this one works a bit better, espcially since there’s so much of myself in it :surprised

a little more progress on the servant’s head and face. I didn’t get as far as I would have liked due to fighting a stupid smoothing error (around the edge of the nostrils)
anyway C&C welcome! I’ll post a closeup of the error a little later.
Some more progress on the servant.
Made some adjustments to the nose, added eyes (finally!)
just plugging away at it now…some obvious adjustments are still needed for the seam, but so far I’m pleased with how this is turning out (best looking head I’ve made yet)
At this point I’m glad the Master is a machine!

Hey man looking Good! My only thing would be is this, pull some verts out from the middle of the cheekbone upwards to the top of the head. At the moment it seems just a wee bit elongated…round him out a bit or it could be the angle you posted too…maybe a frontal shot would help 
Other than that good stuff!
Good start. Try to visualize a skull and muscles under those polygons. It will help guide you in the facial construction and features placement. There is no magical secret to head modeling, but you gotta think under the surface first. Skull and muscle, yeah fat too, dictate the form of the flesh and everything else. Dive in. Look forward to more posts.
Kid Mesh: Yeah he seems to be a bit elongated in this last pic, although nothing proportionally has changed since the previous post, so I’m thinking it has more to do with the zoom setting of the user viewport in blender. Although I am rounding his face out a little bit more.
Brent_3D: Thanks for that bit of advise on the facial structures (which applies to the rest of any character really) I see a few points that need tweaking to take your advise into account. That should be in my next update. :wip:
gra7: Thanks Man! I’ll hammer out all of the symmetry issues when I do my final mirror and weld operation…or at least I’ll re-do that untill the seam looks right! :banghead:
