Master and Servant 3D Entry: eugene rabok

#3

Hi Eug55,

I like your idea. I hope I dont sound harsh, but I am concerned that your current concept might be too complicated. We only have a little more than a month to have these completely finished and submited. I plan on having mine finished by May 5th. I have no idea what your 3D skill level and speed is but 5 asian warriors would be more than I could handle even if I had two months for the project.

I would simplify the image to just a master and a guy comitting suicide. Maybe you can work with just those elements and then if you have the time you can add another warrior or even 2 if you really have alot of time. I have a feeling simple and strong is the better way to go for this challenge.

Still its a great idea. I wish you the best of luck with it.

thanks, chiwoo
we’ll see how fast the progress’s going. i’m going to create just one body and rig it… and try to play with clothfx… at that point i think it doesn’t matter is it 2 figures or 5… i think texturing and lighting will take most of the time…

#5

Cool deal Eug55! I look forward to seeing it.

#6

spent couple hours modeling basic body (polygons)… later will work with model in zb…

#7

i’m done for today. tomorrow i’ll try to play around with the room and may be some cloth tests

#8

just a first pretest.

#9

didn’t expect that cloth would be such a pain - had to use zb. that might be a problem

#10

couple of hours of zb

#11

-the torso seems a bit tall
-if I remember correctly his seppuku wouldn’t be accepted with a facial expression like this
-the background looks great

#12

wow… it’s refreshing to come to a thread and be pleasently suprised.
The render of the room looks sooo good! Good job
the character looks cool so far

#13

thaks for comment grau

  • it’s just a half of torso - and a first test render… i’ll position it properly later
  • this guy is in state of clinical death… just a split second before he falls. his face expression is a convulsive reflex… hi was calm when he started cutting - believe me <-joke
  • thanks for your kind words

#14

i’m glad to see that people are actually looking into this thraed

#15

The concept and modeling is really good, something very different! The characters and house are looking nice already, maybe you coul add some classic japanese view outside the room, visible in the distance through the doorway.

#16

thanks jarvetu.
your reply proves that my sketch sucks. elements of japanese garden were planed to be visible thru the doorway - sakura, pond etc… they are on a sketch (unrecognizable thou… maybe i should put little pointers - “tree” “lake” <-joke)

#17

worked on shogun’s hands - the only visible element of his body (except head of course)

#18

just a quick test

#19

lookin good eug55 … i nice little ritualistic suicide always makes me smile :bounce:

thinkin though that the heads on these guys needs to be sized up about 30% … bodies look o.k. (especially when they’ll have cloth) … but the heads are pretty small to me

looking good

#20

thanks for comment, pigwater

heads look normal to me (i have a small head too - i’m serious)… but i’ll try to scale it back and forth…

#21

just a quick lighting test

#22

I’m really digging your lighting so far. I have some comments, but I want to wait to see the next progress before I start critiques. I like the concept and the idea.
