Master and Servant 3D Entry: Eric J. Maki

Simple charcoal sketch. Since I wasn’t too happy with the last couple ideas I am just working on some more ideas. One is this one based on my own bratty parrot. She likes to sit on my shoulder when I am home and scream (parrot-speak for “sing”) and use me as a moving climbing toy. I might try some variants of this. Let me know if you have any ideas or preferences.

hi. good sketches and unique idea. keep it up- i like your drawings a lot… good luck to you-

#11

A bit cleaner sketch. Charcoal. I’m still formalizing the parrot concept so once that is done I’ll sketch out the final composition. I want to get started on the model.

#12

Juha - Kiitos! I hope to have some fun with this.

Hi there muckywetnoodle!
Coll scetches indeed!
Like your graphic, man.
Actually I like more idea with wolfs and fireplce - it is dramatic, original (well, didn’t see such around here) and I like your dog/wolf concept. Reminds me adventure books form my childhood:)
Wait for your final idea.
Keep it arriving

#14

Deryk - Thanks! That would indeed be a challenge to finish. I’ll give it some thought.

#15

I went from Clay for a basic mesh, to Maya to create some handy poly groups that zbrush recognizes to hide parts and then some blocking in with Zbrush. I’ll be finishing up the body and doing a detail pass on the face next. I won’t be getting too crazy with detail on the body since he’ll be covered in fur. mmmmmm, furrrrr.

#16

I just have to make him a tongue. Texture and fur coming up.

#17

nice, the dog is very good, im looking forward to see more

#18

nice doggy u got there:bounce:
keep it up:thumbsup:

#19

Hey muckywetnoodlem,
Really happy that you’ve chosen the first idea ! Modelling looks very promissing
That character got very “powerful” exterior ! Cool details in his anatomical structure:thumbsup:
For me is a special interest to see developing some stuff showed in phases !
The only thing now I’d suggest is that tale is too thin (well, if it will have fur, it doesn’t matter:)
Good work, mate:scream:

#20

Nice dog modeling, but the head seems a bit small compare to its paws.

#21

The doggy is good! Looks realistic, nice modelling!

#22

I’ll be doing a detail pass next and adding some shading to the bits that will be showing through the fur. This current diffuse will serve as the practical fur color map.

#23

Jelmer, Mr Micro26, Deryk, jarvetu- Thanks!

arlutik- I’ll probably have to adjust some things once the fur is added, I’m not sure yet how much bulk the fur will add. Thanks for the comment.

#24

Texturing is done unless anyone’s got comments. I’ll be adding shave fur next.

#25

hey there dude… textures look good and will look even better when the fur is on there just one little comment if you dont mind… you detailed the dogs muscles pretty well and its a shame that the textures cover the dogs muscle definition…so i suggest going back to the texture board and shading the muscle tone a little so its at least noticable a little… see how you go, thats just an opinion you dont have to since we are running out of time… good luck dude… hope to see more prosperess progress from you

#26

Thanks Neeno, good point. I’ll be using the same model modified for the wolves which will be pretty gaunt. I figured the fur would cover a lot of that definition but I’ll see. E3 is going to make finishing this hairy (no pun intended)

#27

Not much to look at yet but I started the musher. I have plenty of reference to work from for the high res version.

The fur is still in progress for the dog.

Spent a few hours on him…
