Master and Servant 3D Entry: Anthony Ray Hollis

#41

Well I decieded to go back to a previously saved version before I modeled the beard. The only real update is the ears that Im still fighting with atm based on my concept art. Im not really sure I want to make his ears that big  because the character will definetly end up being stylized…Anyway, still have a lot to tweak so time will tell.

Gremlin - Hey Gremlin long time no hear from, hope everything went well with your move. Yeah the collab thing didnt really work out but it has been revamped by Madkarma and AJE. Under the name The Gabriel Strain and thus far they are making awesome progress.

This head is not the same that you saw back when we were doing the collab  that’s for sure, Im currently trying to follow the concept art that I created for this contest. But hey, what would be interesting is if you could link what tutorial your speaking of because it may help me with this beard issue.

Good luck with your entry, I’ll be watching.

Lookin’ good Kidmesh. Not sure if I’m going to enter this one or not. I’m busy with Uni:D j/k. This doesn’t look like any model of yours I’ve seen before. It’s your style to be sure, but the same model based on a tutorial? Riiiight:rolleyes: I’d like to see that tutorial myself. A modeling tute of a head with African American features based on your drawing style. I’ve gotta see that.

#44

Well, the face is slowly starting to come around to what I want. I remodeled the beard and this proably wont be the last time I tweak it. But I took Geta-Ve’s advice a went on with the seperate object concept. Oh yeah and I shrank the nose as well

Hopefully by saturday I can get started modeling the body…but It’s time to crash for now.

#45

Love him… his expression and the way he looks tells me hes a thug and a theif ( a bad dude)
i REALLY cant wait to see the body

#46

gr8 start man… looking foreward seeing more soon… keep up the good works

#47

Well I tweaked this character a tad bit more, added some eyeballs and extruded his neck. At this point Im done with it until I get to the texturing stage, I know I will do some more tweaks at that point. Im off to modeling the body and accessories now.

#50

becoming really interesting and amazing face modelling ! Congrats

Troof - Yeah, it didnt help that I was listening to Alice in chains while I was modeling him but that’s defintely the feeling I wanted. But Im looking forward to working on the body too!

overcontrast - Thanks!

ninox - Thanks for the crit…yeah Im gonna round that dome out alittle more, I keep looking at the concept and im wanting to square his head in the front. But at this stage im happy with it for now.

-OZ- - Thank you for the comments.

great kid mesh, some smal tweaks on head and its there, (come on, we want to se the body now) :arteest: see you and

#53

jddog - Thanks kind sir, I still have a lot to learn as there are so many excellent modelers in this contest. Im just glad mine looks human

alex.h. - Im at a mini crossroad with the body, In my concept art the (Wizard) thief is wearing some sort of cloak style jacket. When I invisioned him that’s what I saw and what I really want to put him in but last night I started thinking about rigging for posing.
For the time allotted I dread to have to rig that coat along with everything else, but Im going to go for it at this point and if it gets outta control I will just have to come up with a better garment solution.

#54

I like the concept and the head looks good. Can’t wait to see the rest of the body.

#55

Nice concept and model. Good luck in challenge.
LW rulez.

#56

Well now that the head is just about all modeled I really needed to start thinking about how to go about the body for this character. Originally I thought about going with the cloak idea like in the concept but Im really not too keen on rigging that pose or that cloak with the kinda time I have left. So I realized I needed to get an image out on paper so I can just get started modeling again.
BTW, Please forgive my horrible porportions on this, it was defintely a quick sketch and idea session mixed again with a little alice-n-chains playing in the background (gotta stop that).
Anyway I proably wont redraw it again…but I needed that modeling road map

Edit:

Knowing me, the final version will resemble this slightly but I’ll proably add or change the garmets as I go, dunno if I like the boots either and I will add some other accessories. But this is good enough visually to get me going. I guess we will have to see…btw image is loosely based off Konlan from BC

#57

coming along nicely man!

#58

Hey man, ya the seperate beard I think works alot better  I’d say make the “tails” of the beard longer too…

One thing though, the head seems too elongated overall… you have more of a stoney look going on now which I like, but I think over all its too long… just a bit though…

and one thing that bothers me is when looking from the front it seems so parallel (sp?) you know? hmm

Anyways definatly a great improvement, now I gotta do more on mine :stuck_out_tongue:

#59

Sheep Factory - Thanks, I appreciate you checking in on me

Geta-Ve - yeah I think I might make the beard a tad longer to give it that “Wizard” look or ala “Ming The Merceless” feel. I will look for some cool references when I go back to it. Also I agree about the “parallel” issue lol…It’s going to have to beef up a little and rounded some more before its truly done but thanks!

Starting to model the torso, once I get the base down Im going to maybe try and model some wrinkles in to the lower portion where the stomach is as this is supposed to be a shirt. I got a pretty good vid somewhere that has a wrinkles tutorial in it but its not that good…(Must experiment). Once the torso is actually finished I will model the vest just to see how its going to look as well.
