Master and Servant 3D Entry: Adam Rappold

Adam Rappold has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Challenge Page

Latest Update: Modeling: Wizard’s Mistake (rough wizard’s head)

Here is a quick attempt at the head of the main wizard in the picture. I am not particuarly happy with it… as it doesn’t have much flair (and looks dangerously close to the goblin picture  ). The wrinkles also bother me and will likely need a complete overhaul. Still, at least I am working forwards!

Expect a basic composition shot soon and as always, comments and critques would be most appreciated. Help me improve myself

Hey all,

This is the concept drawing for my entry. I apologize for the poor quality but my scanner is on the fritz and my photoshop skills are lacking.

If the drawing is incomprehensible… the basic concept is that an apprentice wizard is meddling with dark powers. He attempts to summon an imp from the Netherworld… but to his suprise, nothing appears.

Foolishly he steps through the protective pentagram, attempting to find out what went wrong, without realizing that he has fallen into a trap. The now-free imp grins maliciously. The would be master is now the entrapped servant.

Comments and criticisms are strongly encouraged (since, as a graphics newbie, I have basically entered to improve my 3d skills).

In case anyone is reading this, I forgot to note that the back shelf and the table on which the imp is crouching will be filled with books and instruments that one might expect an alchemist/wizard to have in his lab.

I wasn’t planning on leaving them blank

This is a quick attempt (a 3d concept scetch, if you will) at the head of the imp in the picture.

There are a lot of things that I am not happy with (namely the ear), but I still look forward to recieving critiques.

Made in Z-Brush 2 with additional modeling and rendering in Cinema 4d version 9.

C&C encouraged.

Here is another attempt at the head of the imp. I am much happier with this one, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Most notably, I need to do more detail work on the face and change the expression. I was looking for something a little more… uhmm… impish (grinning with a dark sense of humor) rather than the brutish expression he has now.

Oh yeah, the ears aren’t pointed yet either. Not sure if I am going to use that or not… we’ll see.

C&C encouraged. Help me improve my skills

Hey all,

This is my first attempt at a body for the imp and I am actually pretty happy with the way that it turned out.

The front (mostly not visible) still needs a bit of tweaking and everything needs fine detail work… but I am interested in hearing what you would suggest changing.

Incidentally, I tweaked the imp’s expression a bit too, but only succeeded in making him look meaner rather than amused. shrug Suggestions are welcome.
