Sure is quiet in here… Hey Shane, Let’s see some concepts.

I know your busy man, Hope you can post some Ideas for this challenge.

“Gaia’s Mercy” is a double edge sword of servant and master. Inspired by many recent cataclysmic events regarding the power of nature, it is a humble reminder of who is truly the master on this plane. The lyrics from Sting song (wrapped around your finger) portray for me the essence of this piece:

“Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you’ll never find me.
I will turn your face to alabaster,
Then you’ll find your servant is your master,”

The woman [Gaia obviously] will have hair of clouds, a body of crystalline water. It will be raining, as a village of worshipers beckon her blessing. Below on the beach are offerings, it is unclear whether they are people, fish hand made or what have you. Four urns are burning brightly despite the wet weather.

looks great shane, but theres either an anatomical problem with that arm or u just have sum foreshortening issues.

#20

LOL its a sketch Noob, ever do those quick 5 minute sketches? :scream:

#21

yes i have done 5 mins sketches.

#22

YES, i love big stuff like that,
when you have to see few details to anderstand the scale of the drawing!

#23

dude, awesome concept and i love that song man i think you should stick with this concept im acpecting to be blown away by this one man cant wait to see it colored

#24

Here I begin the final line art. I still have the village and people to attend to. One thing I advanced in the portrayal of Mercy, you can see how the Gaia spirit is ready to unleash the rain with one hand but holds back the enormous waves with the other, poised and ready as she listens to the pleading village seeking to appease her and recognise how they have not heeded her previous warnings. Now the time is poignant, will they change thier ways, or be destroyed by what they thought was thier servant.

Thank you for the great support so far, I am hoping this turns out to be a very dynamic, beautiful (I love landscapes) yet vengeful feeling of tension, all the mood will be set by the lighting.

#25

i like how your concept and line art is coming along, when you start coloring maybe you should have some waves splash in a way that conveniently covers her crotch so you wont have to use a smooth spot and also she is just a little to mucly i would probably tone that down just a tiny bit ya know

#26

i like the lineart a lot. really looks great. cant wait to see some colours.
