Master and Servant 2D Entry: Sidharth Chaturvedi

Excellent concept. Just a few opinions if you will… the angle may be a bit too extreem, as it makes an “x” composition with the focal point directly in the center. Also I’d add more depth to the buildings… right now they look somewhat flat almost like a fence. If the road pushed into the city further before the blue guys bright light started it would give much more depth. Though this is just a concept, hope I’m not being too critical, I just see a lot of potential. Good luck with the challenge

The first line art for Technocracy. I’m using some parts of the concept sketch to map out the buildings, color coding them depending on how far in the background they are. This is about 1/4 the size of the actual drawing.
RippleMDK: I’ll take your advice and drive the road further into the city. As for the perspective, I’ll try to work on something, though for now I can’t really think of an alternative.

#5

I agree with Ripple, I think the angle is a little too severe. Nice idea though, it’s looking good.

#6

thats an extreme perspective+tilt u chose for the composition. liked the idea and the the high-tech look and esp the details u put into the image. all the best for the challenge.

#7

With all the building’s color coded (as seen in the last WIP), I’m now doing the actual outlines. The red lines will be used to correct the perspective of the buildings themselves.
Note that the final composition is still the same- It’s horizontal here to make working on the perspective easier, but It’ll be at an angle later.

RippleMDK, Dreamshark and sloth79- thanks for the comments! I’ll try to make the angle slightly less extreme, though I’ll have to see just how much.

#8

Perspective on the buildings is finished. Still need some advice on what to do with the drawing’s angle.

#9

I agree with all of the above posts, FIX THE PERSPECTIVE and this will rock!

nice idea :)… i agree with the comments so far… rotate it a little to the right and the effect will be much better i think! good luck!

#11

THE Wizard, dunkelgold - Thanks for the comments! I took everyone’s (and I mean everyone’s) advice and fixed the perspective to what extent I could.

Now I just have to figure out what to do to the man in the back- the composition looks odd now imo, and there’s too much empty space to the top-left. Maybe I’ll just use fancy cloud work there. Suggestions?

#12

 lookin good so far. When you say you’ll add a cloud in the top left - perhaps you could have some servere weather effect involving electrical storms, with bolts of lighteneing emulating from the main charcter. The sky would also look awsome if you added servere perspective, echoing the line of the city… I’m getting carried away now, but you get the idea? Keep it up, should be a good one

:bounce:

That’s spiff-tastic ! I do agree with m477, about the ecetric storm clouds…would add a nice effect! But anyway looking good thus far! Dont stop !

Hi sidchagan.

Looks good man. It eminds me of AI’s android city. Theme is also good even if littlebit too dramatic loverstale for my taste  but good work with concep GL&Ht and sketches. GL&HF

Ugh, sorry for the incredibly slow updates. College work’s driving me insane, so I havent had more than an hour to work on this in the last few days. As a result, this isnt much of an update- just showing how the lines are coming.

The sky wont be as dark in the final, this is just a template against which to draw the clouds.

#16

thats a cool fx, interesting perspective view, nice one dude, keep it up!

#17

Started working on the clouds. This isn’t what the final background will look like obviously- I’ll decrease the opacity on this cloud layer later on, as well as add some background features in the sky, before doing the real cloudwork on top. This is just to give an idea of what the cloud layout might look like.

Any ideas on this?

#18

I like the concept…amost did something similar. Have to agree about the angle comments, seems a little too much. Maybe rotate it to the right towards horizontal a tad. What about adding a slight fish eye lens efffect to the city? Too much?? OMO :hmm:

#19

More work on the clouds. I added some background (which is very faintly visible, if at all), and as I said I’d do, decreased the opacity on the first cloud layer. The clouds will stay like this until I’ve added some lighting, which is some way off.

Cameron Gardner: Thanks for the comment :). I fixed the perspective to what extent I could before (it was even more extreme in the concept stage), but any more and I’ll have to modify too much, so I wont be able to make it more horizontal- I dont even know if I’ll finish it in time as it is :P.
Also, I’m not really sure what a fish eye effect is…

#20

I like the changes that you made to the perspective. It’s looking much better. As for the angle of the city it sounds like you’ve finalized that… Aside from that I’d be concerned about all the “weight” in the picture being in the botton left. It’s almost as if everything is going to slide off the side. Perhaps some larger buildings on the right side would balance it out more.

All that aside… good work on the cloud layer thus far. It’s looking like the lighting is going to be very dramatic.

A very intresting concept and a sort of ‘Tron’ like aprouch… without all the neon lights though.

You are still yet working on it. But I would really lover to see it with the bridge with more elements in it revealing how such bridges are constructed. It just seemed as if it would add so much more!

Layout of what colors the building lights will likely be. Dont worry, the final wont look like this! Still gotta draw the building structures on top, then do more lighting and.

I’m unlikely to finish this drawing in time, thanks to my upcoming exams. I’ll probably be uploading another concept drawing soon, in case I decide I dont want to go ahead with this one (the buildings are painfully boring to draw).
