Lovely!!!

Ah, see now, you’re getting somewhere really good. with this background, you can do more with your character placement. BTW, i really like that lifeless feeling on the female, but i would go opposite with the kid though.
cheers,
Archie
keep this going mate, very nice overall setting and the ‘pet’ is looking good~
pls dont abundant this piece.wish u luck!![]()
Well, started to lay in the paint over the enlarged rough. Trying to get a feel for how far im going to take the image. Painting the Background is going to give me nightmares. I have spent so much time doing character art I have neglected my BG skills and am not quite sure how to approach it. Bitch and Moan right

Just want to say your character is looking nice. I really like this character.
About painting the background, if you need any help, just ask me or anyone in this forum. People here are very helpful and they don’t mind giving advice or some tips.
cheers,
Archie
I really like the style you have. Also it reminds me of some game i must have played… Dunno. Very familiar anyhow.
No real advices for you. Youre doing everything right.
I absolutely love this! The makeup and the hair and just the overall style of the image is wonderful, i’ll be watching this, hopefully i’ll be able to add some good critiques.

nice work. i like the style and scene. looking forward to further developments.
that is really nice. love teh painting style u got going… i am not sure about the boy’s stance… i would chnage that, but the slaves is spot on. . . also backgorund looks abit … hmmm i dont know… to me it does not seem to compliment it… in fact the whole piece looks abit to static.
Don’t get me wrong though i love this idea and your character design and panting skill rock! (I too am really scared about painting my background for the same reasons)
Will be following
Thanksn for great compliments and suggestions. Most of you are pretty much spot on with what this piece needs. Last night I was really struggeling trying to figure out what to do with the back ground to help compliment the piece, I really like the panaramic idea, but I was engulffing the characters and they were losing all there presence. Thats when I realized I was approaching this like a portrait. So, I’m going to try to find an approprite approach to the enviorment that will show off the charcters in a better fashion but still tell a story (somewhat). Time to bust out the John Singer Sargent books!

she looks kind, but i cant fight that there is something spooky in her eyes. everything else looks great. i love the design.
Well, after much deliberation i decided that i need to go with a diffrent approach to the piece. I started it out with the idea to do a ‘portriat’ and decided i should folow that true and let the characters attempt to carry it on there own, and the bg just help complement them. So, i busted out a bunch of portriture (i need to learn to spell that damn word) books and see how it was done. In all honesty I havnt the slightest idea if this is the ‘right’ way, but hey, lifes a big experiment and i think its feeling a hell of alot better.

man you gotta keep doin what your doin, cause this is a fantastic piece. I think the starkness of the BG adds a hellova lot to the mood and emotion of the piece. It’s almost as if the two are standing infront of an old weathered building, juxtaposing the tradition against the age of the couple.
Can’t wait tosee this finished.

Dude, the composition on this is niiice. I love it. It works and i agree with Tariq12. The old weathered building or structure would definately work. Yeah, you finally figured it out. You have my support on this. I’ll keep checking bro.
cheers,
Archie
Well, first of all I have to apologize for missing out on your thread until now. Brilliant work! Beautiful style and I love your latest post… the simplicity of the bg really shows off your wonderfully detailed characters. Keep going… I’m giddy with anticipation! Well, the giddiness could be from the booze and almost 13 hours in front of this bloody computer screen… but the anticipation is real enough!
Give us more, more, MORE I SAY!
Cheers!
