Trying to find something more dramatic and with a little more energy.
Master and Servant 2D Entry: Russell Drake
I love your cyclops, he rocks! Interesting concepts too, can’t wait to see updates!
i like the foreshortening on the cyclops rough sketch, maybe an aerial view with a closer look at the sorcerer and cylops below would establish a clearer relationship between the two, good luck
Great suggestion by applejak. Looking down on the cyclops and sorcerer does reinforce the Slave & Master relationship. I do think the view should be a little closer so we can see more of the sorcerer. Seeing him in all his evil glory would be fun and strengthen his role as master.
Maybe a little more tweaking and I might have a decent composition to start Line Art.
Thanks for the comments Sylanya & applejak
Hey, Mustardwash! Nice work so far. I like how the cyclops’ head is bowed as though he’s ashamed of what he’s done and it will make a nice contrast for your power mad wizard. I’ve never seen a cyclops cry before, but you might be just the man to do it. Good luck! ![]()
after having killed you so many times at the avatar wars you still dare join the challenge?!
The first sketch riminds me of a magic the gathering card :), Your last sketch has the greatest potential imo. You could draw a destroyed kingdom in the background or something like that.
Working on the basic layout of the sketch. Getting a feel for shapes and colors. I think doing landscape instead of portrait will fit this better.
I really like your first concept sketch that look like a comic book page! Your latest concept is less stronge to me…but still a good idea. Perhaps move the horizon lower down in your picture so it shows more sky. I’m not sure what you have instore for the background but I cant wait to see your progress. Keep it up !![]()
coCoKNIght: After putting much thought into it, I figured it would be worth another beating from you in the Avatar Wars.
How could I resist another CGTalk Challenge?
Ilikesoup: Greetings Soup! Welcome to my thread! I think the tear might be a good idea. I would love to be remembered as
“The man who made a Cyclops cry”
HammaJamma: Thanks, I really want to portray alot of emotion through my Cyclops.
CoreyArtE: Thank you! That is acutally the style I am more comfortable with. I agree with your comment about the horizon. After I uploaded it I noticed how odd it looked. Keep checking back! I need all the C&C I can get!
Looking good so far. But again the background lacks excitement. I like the idea of the monster destroying the kingdom… but make the kingdom bigger or show some more mountains around the kingdom. Or hey! this might be a good idea! Surround the castle with water like an insland, and have the monster walking in the water after destroying the kingdom like you had in your previous concept. And in the water show dead sea serpents or something that the monster had to kill in order to get to the kingdom. Just have fun with it ! I also think you should make the sky more of a gray blueish color instead of red…I dont know just a personal preference I suppose. But keep it up…dont stop now!

I agree with corey, there is too much dead space in the background. I like your ogre concept, just spice up the bg. Good luck! ![]()
Also, if you are going to make your sky a redish color then you should have some red tones in your mountains and plains.
Trying something different composition wise. I want something more dynamic and emotional than the past few sketches I have done.
I figure the Cyclops would be most emotionally stressed just after he slaughtered his own village. This would be the moment he realizes what he has really done.
I like the cyclops pose better, still want it to be more dramatic and eyecatching. maybe I should change the perspective a bit. hmmmm…
