Latest Update: Coloring WIP: Backdrop colouring WIP

Heres the mood i was going for with the backdrop. Its still quite sketchy but ill smooth it all out eventually. the edges are nice and sharp coz im using masks over shapes that ive painted, a new technique that ive found to be very effective! i havent even thought about the second figure yet! Next gotta start working on the dancers clothing and colours.

wow, my first cg networks competition! Heres my first concept. The first idea that poped into my head while reading the contest outline. Took me about 5 mins. Conjoined twins, one is the master and the other is the servant, but which is which? Even if i do go with this idea, i’ll definately change the pose, and probably remove the gun. If i go with this idea, then ill prob do it in a da vinci sort of biblical image (but not as good as he would do it most likely!).

welcome, interesting concept, good luck:thumbsup:

#4

cheers looking forward to this a lot!

second idea with a bit of colour. A kid master of his toy soldiers. not a great angle, just the layout of the scene more like. I’d do this in a dark room with a fireplace in the background. Or maybe in the back garden. Dunno, not a great fan of this idea myself.

I like this idea a lot. Im going to develop it more. Probably use a life model as a reference. :stuck_out_tongue:

#7

yeah— working this one out with live reference sounds like fun
(I love the crown and the expression on his face , hehehe)

Conjoined twins! Perfect! Wish I had thought of that. Like your belly dance drawing. Nice style.

whoa. ok this has turned into a huge anatomy learning experience for me! Just spent the best part of this afternoon doing the lines for the belly dancer. A good anatomy book tutorial and a cup of tea later i’ve come up with this. Would love some comments and crits on my anatomy (on the picture, not my privates if theres any comedians out there).

This is a huge improvement! Some things that jump out at me are: the breasts look a little too low and her back muscle under her right armpit (dunno the name of it) looks too masculine, bring it up a little.

Keep it up.

Also, her left femur looks too long thus making her knee too low, this could be caused by the perspective but I doubt it.

lol, yeah i tend to do my sketches in a really super fast way, just to get my ideas down as quickly as possible. makes me look 5 years old. Thanks for your tips Cereba4l very helpful.

ok, i think the left hand looks alright, but not great i know! Shes a bit nude at the mo, but im going to cover her up with lots of eloborate clothing. I made a simple 3d back drop to help with perspective. the lights are in the right place, but the lighting is going to be nothing like this nor are the colours.
