Master and Servant 2D Entry: Ricky L. Hunter

#9

Hey Ricky, saw your concepts dude. They Rock ! Personaly I loved the Necromancer Concept. maybe because I’ve just been reading " Elric".
Seriously though, I think if you have the Necromancer either in ful view from front or in a more askewed shot from the back. For example if we see him from a 3/4 birds eye view on some sort of elevation and we see over his shoulder at the dead army he is raising. Or the front view could be a great shot of him from ground level looking at him in the middle ground and all around are the dead in various stages of awakening.

Does this make sense or am I just babbling cause I think the idea is just great ??

yes tariq12, it does make sense. and thanks for your time.
i like both ideas. the 3/4 view might be more dynamic and interesting, buit the front view might be more detailed…or more reasonably detailed…ie facial expression, full drapery… i like the front shot personally, but at a lower angle looking up. as if we were coming up with the dead i suppose…assuming i go with that idea that is…i might flesh all of these out first, and go from there…

#11

concept idea for the necromancer. not the line art milestone because its just the master. any crits, comments, or any feedback what-so-ever is greatly appreciated. thanks.

#12

Hey Ricky, Good concepts! I like the bottom left which it looks like you’re going with. This competition could be right up you alley because of your solid character designs. Looking forward to more.

#13

thanks cliff. i do appreciate the vote of confidence.

#14

very cool!!

#15

i like his pose, he looks like hes doing a gang signal with his hand! ah jokes, i like his design, especially the face paint, im guessing youll use alot of reds and dark colours for it??? id give him some head gear to show hes an authority or chief or something, and you could go crazy tith it… alternatively you could give him some cool jewellry, like a big gold chain around his neck, or some tribal necklace… just thoughts… looking good!

#16

actually on second thoughts scrap the head gear… he looks good as a voodoo style dude with that rats tail…

#17

the final line art. not as clean as i like, but it has my basic shapes and composition. the correct anatomy will be applied…during the painting, ie ribs and joints, skull details and what not. few shakey details: the chalice? does it add anything or fit at all? same with the *pentagram circle? the background ok? the overall image ok? seems busy, but could be pulled together nicely with the color scheme. heres hopin. any and all comments and feedback and crits are greatly encouraged and appreciated.

#18

closed in. cropped. more focused i think. any comments, crits, or any feedback is appreciated.

#19

the slow start to a long, and hopefully good piece. all comments, crits and feedback is appreciated.

#20

looks great so far, nice colour choice!

#21

You’r thumbnails are great! I am sure that you chosed the correct one to continue work on  I really like the feeling of it. Kinda vodoo shaman controlling thoose skeletons! soo cool!

I think perhaps you could benefit from placing atleast one of the skeletons in the front even closer to the camera, and darken them, so they would frame the image better and draw more focus to the main person?

thankyou eupee, noob and am7.

eupee- ya. i’m gonna play with some jewelry. i thought initially about small animal bones or bright gold. he does have 2 lip piercings, but some anklets/armlets/rings might be a nice addition. headgear could still be a possibility. a large cow skull or something. maybe once i get to that finer detail stage. thanks for the suggestions though.

noob- thankyou much noob. i appreciate you takin time to stop by.

am7- thanks for the encouragement. and a sihlouetted figure might be a great. and i mean great idea…i will play around with that. thanks a lot.

I like the concept and characters, but their poses are little, I don’t know-- they look somehow static even thou they are not. It’s hard to explain, but it looks good

another wip. slowly but surely i suppose. when its a little more developed, i’ll post a detail. feedback most welcomed.

#25

I like the concept. Master over the dead, that always fun!
Drawings are cool, the painting is really high contract now, but im sure you will work some more midtones in before your done.

#26

close up on the necromancer. real rough still. all comments, crits, and feedback are appreciated.

#27

color wip. added a skeleton in the “extreme” foreground. as suggested. i think it helps frame the necromancer. darkened the background. all comments and crits and any feedback is appreciated. thanks.

looking great.

make the colours in the back saturated that will give it more depth.
