Master and Servant 2D Entry: Marcin Ciecierski

#32

thanks for words encouragment NOOB! and Jarek. you are right about the characters. rhey are getting lost there and they are very important in this case so i enlarged them a bit. the prist’s expression is especially important. i hope it will be visible. i spent 2 days getting this composition. i know it sounds stupid but composing is difficult for me for now. but anyway we’ll see maybe i’ll make a different angle. for now i will color this one. thanks again.

#33

yet another update. i think it’s enough for tonight… as always any suggestions are welcome. thanks

#34

i’m experimenting with colours. haven’t touched the characters yet but they need some changes

#35

Hey there, nice concept! I like the colours so far, but I think you should make it a little bit darker maybe, the interior a little bit shadowier. As it seem it is times when there was no artificial lighting, then the interior should be a tad big darker, I think you could add some torches or smth like that for additional light source. The master is very cool! I like the composition. Keep working  Good luck!

#36

thank you Edite! i was actually thinking about making the image darker since the concept isn’t exactly happy. i need to play with colors more. and i like the idea with torches. i’ll try to fit them somwhere maybe near the statue. and i should make the statue hidden in the gloom so it doesn’t stick out like that.
thanks again!

Nice progress Marcin. Good thing you changed concepts the new one is a lot better. Have you thought about getting in a little closer with the composition. The charactes are realy small now. Maybe lower the ceiling and make the statue behind him a bit smaller…you’ll get in a lot more details then.

#38

Hey nice progress, Marcheen! Really like the new composition. Are you still planning to animate the statue? The new priest design is much more evil…love it. Only suggestion is whether you might consider a slightly closer crop to make the scene more personal…it might make more of the interplay between the priest and his servants… his expression is so sinister it would be a shame to lose it by panning out so far. Great work, will keep watching this progress.

3dRaven, redfrog, thanks for your comments and kind words of encouragment. i know that the characters are too small now. maybe i’ll crop it later. but i’m getting too attached to the composition. i want to have some clouds, i want to have the statue, the ornaments but that propabily won’t work. or maybe i’ll add more servants… and i don’t want to animate the statue anymore. it just will be a part of the background.
anyway this is another update. i was mainly experimenting with different brushes and shapes. i am going to change the design of the columns into something “original”. these are too boring…

#40

i did some changes to the columns

#41

wow…
great work.:bounce:
realy love your paintin style.i will wiat to see more.
good luck.

#42

Nice update. I like how the statue’s coming along. The sky outside looks a bit strange now…a little heavier than the previous version, not sure the clouds should go so low. The new column work well with the background ornaments

Keep them updates coming

#43

xric7, thank you so much. this is really motivating.

3dRaven, thank you. yes that sky is strange now. it is a result of my experiments with new brushes and i kind of like it like that. i’ll just add more details to it. and actually it’s not that low because i this is’n ground floor of the temple. i just have to come up with something to indicate the sense height. make a balcony maybe…

thnks again!

#44

small update for tonight

#45

tonight’s work

#46

Nice… really starting to build up. Are you planning to animate the statue…glowing eyes or something might be cool…

#47

Waitin for some more updates Marcin.

Throw in some contrasting elements and highlights.

#48

heh, i’m actually having this dillema if i should go on with this one or just leave it and practise on the side and take part in another one perhaps…coz i am working on something different at the moment.

#49

Marcin go with what you think is right. If you feel the other project will give you more satisfaction than go with it. It all depends on what the end goals are…go for the one your more comfortable with.

I guess your last submission is the best, I really like the overall composition and feeling. But my advice is to make your figures bigger or crop the environment a little bit. This way viewer can read your composition easier. My first reading was the architecture and the statue instead of master-servant figures. I would kill those nice environments for the sake of to make my theme more readable. Anyways, just my two cents. Keep up the good work.
