Wow Linda!
All your paintings carry so much immense fantasy, I wish I had putt as much effort as you have ever since you was a child, in every painting you drew, in everything I drew, since I was a child. Im happy with your success, I really am, I love how you manage to produce such a great beauty born straight from your head.
The style you produce is like a stream with excellent quality only. This contest entry is of excellent quality. I am pleased with the concept, really nice story. The flowers, their dresses, the details give this picture so many real characteristics. The colours are perfectly able to pop the picture, as you like to call it. The only thing I notice is that the humans hair sort of grows in to her neck. You should give the hair some more depth, so that it shows how it disappear behind her neck, or it should be hanging behind her. I have not had the chance to study how hair reflect light or cast shadows, I might be wrong, but I think that you should be the judge on this critic, as I have no idea.
Squibbuts private message philosshpy certainly works… thanks linda and i have sent u reply.
Lets have some fun! Take care
it is a blasphemy to call this painting boring or anything bad…it is nothing less than wonderfullll
Why do I keep coming back to this thread…
Oh yeah I forgot Your art is splendtaferific!!!:buttrock:
Yeah I said splendtaferific. Smurfs for life lol.:buttrock:
This is truly great painting and technique is just breathtaking, but from my little skewed point of view (I mostly animate not paint) the figure on the left lacks a little of weight.
Hi, Linda,
Like everybody said, I really admire the painting technique. Its really clean and refined. How long have you spent on this painting already? Must be forever
I think I’d go cookoo painting something like that!
Beautiful.
This is definitely one of your best.
drooling over blonde tresses and soft grass and shiny feathers and little skull on the ground and…
I’m in agony, I need my fix of your image, any updates I just love your work so much.
Such a great picture… Main reason why I chose to respond in the first place. Here’s what I think makes it a great picture.
I love the imbalance of it, the way white-dress is pushing nature-girl to the left of the frame, how the precarious way nature-girl holds white-dress emphasises that imbalance, and the fact that white-dress is pushing nature-girl, even though she isn’t pushing her, it’s makes a great dynamic in the picture, really why it’s so cool. The submissive form of white-girl is actually very powerful and makes the grip nature-girl has on white-dress weak. Just love this imbalance.
I like the colours on the women, and look forward to seeing the background colours improve.
I like the birds, and look forward to seeing a break up of the way they form a circle pointing towards the 2 women. The birds and butterflies are very pretty and bring the nature symbolism better into the picture, and have a potential in displaying how white-girls’ influence is killing them (and thus nature), but they’re all still flying around them, and flight or ‘motion’ gives them life, and although we see the ‘healthy’ birds to the right, and ‘dying’ birds to the left, there isn’t a ‘dead’ bird to complete the “story of the birds” so to speak.
I like the fruit and grass, and look forward to seeing more development on the dead grass.
A big part of it’s appeal is also the intimacy between the two girls, no matter how you interpret it, it’s there and it adds and complements the imbalance, gives it an emotional twist. Their faces and posture from the shoulders and up display alot of interplay between the two girls and the strange hug adds to that. One could almost imagine somekind of a game between the two.
I think the bird sitting in the background is actually a very good addition, as it connects the background to the foreground, similar to the dead fruit, but the dead fruit somehow doesn’t register as a connection between back-and foreground, it’s significance as a symbol for ‘death’ is alot stronger than it’s connection to the healthy fruit in the background. I’m looking forward to seeing more connections between background and foreground.
The Q&A thread gave me an insight into your earlier work, and in no way do I think you’re stagnating. The human form will never cease being a platform in paintings to tell a story, and skill such as yours will never be a burden. You capture form and emotion on a very delicate basis, use the body as much as or more than the face to convey feelings, and that’s what people have been doing with realistically done paintings, and will continue to do with realistically done paintings.
The only challenge is the canvas, the only success is finishing a piece and going on to the next one, and yes words on a forum can be interpreted the wrong way.
K.
My god:rolleyes: I hope the guy who just posted before me doesn’t die of finger strain:eek: lol…
I absolutely adore this piece… looks as though it’s been done on a canvas… and that you have OWNED that canvas like pro!
Not one crit to throw at it… apart from (lol… I lie so much) humanity’s left foot… is she wearing a sock or are you going to add a touch more detail?? I hate feet too btw lol…
I think this is in with a very good chance of winning… or at least top tenning:bowdown:
Let me know if the feet are supposed to be like that and I will be silent:blush:
Excellent work
Jimmi:thumbsup:
I think that you could do that!
Really!
There is so muche details, this picture is so great.
You want to give much depth to the image and you have right.
But just for the bakcground.
For the character it is really enough!!
Great work, you do not have more than 70 000 visit for nothing!
perfect painting:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
